[Termes IGN] propagation d'erreurRésumé : (Auteur) This paper proposes two methods for analyzing error propagation in overlay analysis of vector polygons, an analytical and simulation method. First, for the analytical method, the error is derived based on the error propagation law in statistics. In the second method, error propagation of overlay is simulated based on the positional error of the original polygon vertices, assuming a given error distribution of the vertices. For both methods, several geometrical error measures for the derived polygons are defined: (i) error measures for the perimeter, area and center of gravity of a polygon, and (ii) the error intervals for the polygon vertices. A test is performed to compare the differences between the two methods and their applicability. The results indicate that there is no significant difference in estimating the propagated error between the two methods. However, these two methods are suitable for different cases. The analytical method is applicable when the error ellipse of any intersection point of the original polygons does not intersect with error ellipses of all the vertices of the original polygons, if the intersection point or, in case of disjoint polygon boundaries, the error ellipse of any point on the boundary of one original polygon does not intersect with the error ellipse of any point on the boundary of the other original polygons. On the other hand, the simulation method is more generic, but more time consuming. [Vedettes matières IGN] GénéralisationRésumé : (Auteur) This paper presents a new model for handling positional uncertainty in the process of line simplification. It considers that positional uncertainty in a simplified line is caused by (a) positional uncertainty in an initial line propagated through the process and (b) a deviation of the simplified line from the initial line. In order to describe the uncertainty in the simplified line, the maximum distance is defined as a measure. This measure is further adopted to determine parameters to a line simplification algorithm. Therefore, this model makes a step forward in the implementation of an uncertainty indicator for the line simplification. As compared existing models, the proposed uncertainty model in this paper is more comprehensive in uncertainty assessment for line simplification Numéro de notice : A2004-279 Affiliation des auteurs : non IGN Thématique : GEOMATIQUE/INFORMATIQUE Nature : Article nature-HAL : ArtAvecCL-RevueIntern DOI : 10.1179/000870404225019990 En ligne : https://www.tandfonline.com/doi/abs/10.1179/000870404225019990 Format de la ressource électronique : URL article Permalink : https://documentation.ensg.eu/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=26806

[Termes IGN] système d'information géographiqueRésumé : (Auteur) In a geographical information system (GIS), a conventional point-in-polygon analysis is used to determine whether a point is located inside a polygon with a Boolean result. Due to positional uncertainties existing with both the point and the polygon, the Boolean answer cannot describe the relationship of closeness between the point and the polygon. This paper aims to develop a model and to provide a continuous index - the probability value - to indicate the extent of the uncertain point located inside the uncertain polygon based upon existing research development. This probability index is derived based on probability and statistical theories considering the statistical uncertainty distributions of the point and the polygon's vertices. The associated mathematical expressions for the probability index are addressed in cases depending on the intersection between the polygon and the error ellipse of the point. The proposed probability index can provide an objective description of the relationship of closeness between an uncertain point and an uncertain polygon. [Termes IGN] zone tamponRésumé : (Auteur) Error propagation of buffer analysis in a vectorbased geographical information system (GIS) is studied with the use of statistics and numerical analyses. In this paper, such factors as the error of commission, the error of omission, the discrepant area and the normalized discrepant area are proposed as the error indicators of buffer analysis. Analytical expressions for the error indicators are developed as multiple integrals. A numerical integration method is recommended to find an approximation to the analytical expression.
