It takes advantage of high resolution of wavelets and feed forward nature of neural networks (NNs). Therefore, in this paper, WNNs is used for modeling of ionosphere time series in Iran. To apply the method, observations collected at 22 GPS stations in 12 successive days of 2012 (DOY# 219–230) from Azerbaijan local GPS network are used. For training of WNN, back-propagation (BP) algorithm is used. The results of WNN compared with results of international reference ionosphere 2012 (IRI-2012) and international GNSS service (IGS) products. To assess the error of WNN, statistical indicators, relative and absolute errors are used. Minimum relative error for WNN compared with GPS TEC is 6.37% and maximum relative error is 12.94%. Also the maximum and minimum absolute error computed 6.32 and 0.13 TECU, respectively. Comparison of diurnal predicted TEC values from the WNN model and the IRI-2012 with GPS TEC revealed that the WNN provides more accurate predictions than the IRI-2012 model and IGS products in the test area. [Termes IGN] segmentation dynamiqueRésumé : (Auteur) Human mobility is important for understanding the evolution of size and structure of urban areas, the spatial distribution of facilities, and the provision of transportation services. Until recently, exploring human mobility in detail was challenging because data collection methods consisted of cumbersome manual travel surveys, space-time diaries, or interviews. The development of location-aware sensors has significantly altered the possibilities for acquiring detailed data on human movements. Although this has spurred many methodological developments in identifying human movement patterns, many of these methods operate solely from the analytical perspective and ignore the environmental context within which the movement takes place. In this paper, we attempt to widen this view and present an integrated approach to the analysis of human mobility using a combination of volunteered GPS trajectories and contextual spatial information. We propose a new framework for the identification of dynamic (travel modes) and static (significant places) behaviour using trajectory segmentation, data mining, and spatio-temporal analysis. We are interested in examining if and how travel modes depend on the residential location, age, or gender of the tracked individuals. Further, we explore theorised ‘third places’, which are spaces beyond main locations (home/work) where individuals spend time to socialise. Can these places be identified from GPS traces? We evaluate our framework using a collection of trajectories from 205 volunteers linked to contextual spatial information on the types of places visited and the transport routes they use. The result of this study is a contextually enriched data set that supports new possibilities for modelling human movement behaviour. [Termes IGN] temps instantanéRésumé : (Auteur) This article concerns the theoretical foundations of movement informatics. We discuss general frameworks in which models of spatial movement may be developed. In particular, the article considers the object–field and Lagrangian–Eulerian dichotomies, and the SNAP/SPAN ontologies of the dynamic world, and classifies the variety of informatic structures according to these frameworks. A major challenge is transitioning between paradigms. Usually data is captured with respect to one paradigm but can usefully be represented in another. We discuss this process in formal terms and then describe experiments that we performed to show feasibility. It emerges that observational granularity plays a crucial role in these transitions.
