[Termes IGN] structure-from-motionRésumé : (auteur) This paper presents an approach for Structure from Motion (SfM) for unorganized complex image sets. To achieve high accuracy and robustness, image triplets are employed and an (approximate) internal camera calibration is assumed to be known. The complexity of an image set is determined by the camera configurations which may include wide as well as weak baselines. Wide baselines occur for instance when terrestrial images and images from small Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) are combined. The resulting large (geometric/radiometric) distortions between images make image matching difficult possibly leading to an incomplete result. Weak baselines mean an insufficient distance between cameras compared to the distance of the observed scene and give rise to critical camera configurations. Inappropriate handling of such configurations may lead to various problems in triangulation-based SfM up to total failure. The focus of our approach lies on a complete linking of images even in case of wide or weak baselines. We do not rely on any additional information such as camera configurations, Global Positioning System (GPS) or an Inertial Navigation System (INS). As basis for generating suitable triplets to link the images, an iterative graph-based method is employed formulating image linking as the search for a terminal Steiner minimum tree in the line graph. SIFT (Lowe, 2004) descriptors are embedded into Hamming space for fast image similarity ranking. This is employed to limit the number of pairs to be geometrically verified by a computationally and more complex wide baseline matching method (Mayer et al., 2012). Critical camera configurations which are not suitable for geometric verification are detected by means of classification (Michelini and Mayer, 2019). Additionally, we propose a graph-based approach for the optimization of the hierarchical merging of triplets to efficiently generate larger image subsets. By this means, a complete, 3D reconstruction of the scene is obtained. Experiments demonstrate that the approach is able to produce reliable orientation for large image sets comprising wide as well as weak baseline configurations. [Termes IGN] voxelRésumé : (auteur) Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) is now widely used for continuous ionospheric observations. Three-dimensional computerized ionospheric tomography (3DCIT) is an important tool for the reconstruction of electron density distributions in the ionosphere through effective use of the GNSS data. More specifically, the 3DCIT technique is able to resolve the three-dimensional electron density distributions over the reconstructed area based on the GNSS slant total electron content (STEC) observations. We present an Improved Constrained Simultaneous Iterative Reconstruction Technique (ICSIRT) algorithm that differs from the traditional ionospheric tomography methods in 3 ways. First, the ICSIRT computes the electron density corrections based on the product of the intercept and electron density within voxels so that the assignment of corrections at different heights becomes more reasonable. Second, an Inverse Distance Weighted (IDW) interpolation is used to restrict the electron density values in the voxels not traversed by GNSS rays, thereby ensuring the smoothness of the reconstructed region. Also, to improve the reconstruction accuracy around the HmF2 (the peak height of the F2 layer) altitude, a multiresolution grid is adopted in the vertical direction, with a 10-km resolution from 200 to 420 km and a 50-km resolution at other altitudes. The new algorithm has been applied to the GNSS data over the European and North American regions in different case studies that involve different seasonal conditions as well as a major storm. In the European region experiment, reconstruction results show that the new ICSIRT algorithm can effectively improve the reconstruction of the GNSS data. The electron density profiles retrieved from ICSIRT are much closer to the ionosonde observations than those from its predecessor, namely, the Constrained Simultaneous Iteration Reconstruction Technique (CSIRT). The reconstruction accuracy is significantly improved. In the North American region experiment, the electron density profiles in ICSIRT results show better agreement with incoherent scatter radar observations than CSIRT, even for the topside profiles. [Termes IGN] reconstruction 3DRésumé : (Auteur) With the development of light-field imaging technology, depth estimation using light-field cameras has become a hot topic in recent years. Even through many algorithms have achieved good performance for depth estimation using light-field cameras, removing the influence of occlusion, especially multi-occlusion, is still a challenging task. The photo-consistency assumption does not hold in the presence of occlusions, which makes most depth estimation of light-field imaging unreliable. In this article, a novel method to handle complex occlusion in depth estimation of light-field imaging is proposed. The method can effectively identify occluded pixels using a refocusing algorithm, accurately select unoccluded views using the adaptive unoccluded-view identification algorithm, and then improve the depth estimation by computing the cost volumes in the unoccluded views. Experimental results demonstrate the advantages of our proposed algorithm compared with conventional state-of-the art algorithms on both synthetic and real light-field data sets. It is commonly deployed on mobile mapping systems to collect imagery for 3D reality capture. This paper describes an approach for the geometric modelling and self‐calibration of this system. The collinearity equations of the pinhole camera model are augmented with five radial lens distortion terms to correct the severe barrel distortion. Weighted relative orientation stability constraints are added to the self‐calibrating bundle adjustment solution to enforce the angular and positional stability between the Ladybug5’s six cameras. Centimetre‐level 3D reconstruction accuracy can be achieved, with image‐space precision and object‐space accuracy improved by 92% and 93% , respectively, relative to a two‐term lens distortion model. Sub‐pixel interior orientation stability and millimetre‐level relative orientation stability were also demonstrated over a 10‐month period. [Termes IGN] reconstruction 3DRésumé : (Auteur) Multiple sensors are commonly used for three-dimensional (3D)-mapping or robotic-vision applications, as they provide a larger field of view and sufficient observations to fulfill frame-registration and map-updating tasks. However, the data sequences generated by multiple sensors can be inconsistent and contain significant time drift. In this paper, we describe the trajectory drift–compensated strategy that we designed to eliminate the influence of time drift between sensors, remove the inconsistency between the sequences from various sensors, and thereby generate a coarse-to-fine procedure for robust camera-tracking based on two-dimensional–3D observations from stereo sensors. We present the mathematical analysis of the iterative optimizations for pose tracking in a stereo red, green, blue plus depth (RGB-D) camera. Finally, complex indoor scenario experiments demonstrate the efficiency of the proposed stereo RGB-D simultaneous localization and mapping solution. The results verify that the proposed stereo RGB-D mapping solution effectively improves the accuracies of both camera-tracking and 3D reconstruction.
