[Termes IGN] reconstruction 3DRésumé : (Auteur) The sub-pixel location of interest points is one of the most important tasks in refined image-based 3D reconstruction in digital photogrammetry. The interest point detectors based on the Harris principles are generally used for stereoscopic image matching and subsequent 3D reconstruction. However, the locations of the interest points detected in this way can only be obtained to 1 pixel accuracy. The Harris detector has the following characteristics: (1) the Harris interest strength, which denotes the distinctiveness of an interest point, is a grey scale descriptor which computes the gradient at each sample point in a region around the point, and (2) the Harris interest strengths of the pixels in a template window centred on the interest point exhibit an approximately paraboloid distribution. This paper proposes a precise location method to improve the precision of the interest points on the basis of these characteristics of the Harris interest strength. Firstly, a least squares fit of a paraboloid function to the image grey scale surface using the Harris interest strength is designed in a template window and a Gaussian-distance algorithm is employed to determine the weight. Then, the precise coordinates of this interest point are obtained by calculating the extremities of the fitting surface. The location accuracy of this method is studied both from the theoretical and the practical point of view. Experimental analysis is illustrated with synthetic images as well as actual images, which yielded a location accuracy of 0·15 pixels. Furthermore, experimental results also indicate that this method has the desired anti-image-noise and efficiency characteristics. [Termes IGN] zone urbaineRésumé : (Auteur) The improved ground resolution of state-of-the-art synthetic aperture radar (SAR) sensors suggests utilizing SAR data for the analysis of urban areas. The appearance of buildings in SAR or interferometric SAR (InSAR) data is characterized by the consequences of the inherent oblique scene illumination, such as layover, occlusion by radar shadow, and multipath signal propagation. Therefore, particularly in dense built-up areas, building reconstruction is often impossible from a single SAR or InSAR measurement alone. But, the reconstruction quality can be significantly improved by a combined analysis of multi-aspect data. In this paper, two approaches are proposed to detect and reconstruct buildings of different size from multi-aspect high-resolution InSAR data sets. Both approaches focus on the recognition of buildings supported by knowledge-based analysis considering the mentioned SAR-specific effects observed in urban areas. Building features are extracted independently for each direction from the magnitude and phase information of the interferometric data. Initial primitives are segmented and afterward projected from slant-range into the world coordinate system. From the fused set of primitives of both flight directions, building hypotheses are generated. The first approach exploits the frequently observed lines of bright double-bounce scattering, which are used for building reconstruction in residential districts. In the case of larger buildings, such as industrial halls, often additional features of roof and facade elements are visible. Therefore, in a second approach, extended buildings are extracted by grouping primitives of different kinds. The two approaches are demonstrated in an urban environment for an InSAR data set, which has spatial resolution of about 30 cm and was taken from two orthogonal flight directions. [Termes IGN] télémétrie laser terrestreRésumé : (Editeur) Terrestrial 3D laser scanning will become the future standard tool for high-resolution 3D documentation of archaeological excavations, but its capabilities are still underestimated by professional archaeologists and providers of scanners or scanning services. The new tool forces archaeologists to consider extension of archaeological stratigraphy theory. The author shows examples of the beneficial use of laser scanning and proposes an extended theory.
