[Termes IGN] système de référence géodésiqueRésumé : (éditeur) This open access book contains 30 peer-reviewed papers based on presentations at the 27th General Assembly of the International Union of Geodesy and Geophysics (IUGG). The meeting was held from July 8 to 18, 2019 in Montreal, Canada, with the theme being the celebration of the centennial of the establishment of the IUGG. The centennial was also a good opportunity to look forward to the next century, as reflected in the title of this volume. The papers in this volume represent a cross-section of present activity in geodesy, and highlight the future directions in the field as we begin the second century of the IUGG. During the meeting, the International Association of Geodesy (IAG) organized one Union Symposium, 6 IAG Symposia, 7 Joint Symposia with other associations, and 20 business meetings. In addition, IAG co-sponsored 8 Union Symposia and 15 Joint Symposia. In total, 3952 participants registered, 437 of them with IAG priority. In total, there were 234 symposia and 18 Workshops with 4580 presentations, of which 469 were in IAG-associated symposia. [Termes IGN] réfraction atmosphériqueRésumé : (auteur) In a joint effort, experts from measurement science and space-geodesy develop instrumentation and methods to further strengthen traceability to the SI definition of the metre for geodetic reference frames (GRF). GRFs are based on space-geodetic observations. Local-tie surveys at co-location sites play an important role for their computation. Novel tools are hence developed for reference point monitoring, but also for local tie vector determination and ground truth provision. This contribution reports on the instrumental approaches and achievements after 24 months project duration and discusses the remaining work in the project. [Termes IGN] système de référence géodésiqueRésumé : (auteur) Our planet Earth is constantly deforming under the effects of geophysical processes that cause linear and nonlinear displacements of the geodetic stations upon which the International Terrestrial Reference Frame (ITRF) is established. The ITRF has traditionally been defined as a secular (linear) frame in which station coordinates are described by piecewise linear functions of time. Nowadays, some particularly demanding applications however require more elaborate reference frame representations that can accommodate non-linear displacements of the reference stations. Two such types of reference frame representations are reviewed: the usual linear frame enhanced with additional parametric functions such as seasonal sine waves, and non-parametric time series of quasi-instantaneous reference frames. After introducing those two reference frame representations, we briefly review the systematic errors present in geodetic station position time series. We finally discuss the practical issues raised by the existence of these systematic errors for the implementation of both types of non-linear reference frames. [Termes IGN] Global Geodetic Observing SystemRésumé : (auteur) The Standing Committee on Performance Simulations and Architectural Trade-Offs (PLATO) was established by the Bureau of Networks and Observations of the Global Geodetic Observing System (GGOS) in order to support – by prior performance analysis – activities to reach the GGOS requirements for the accuracy and stability of the terrestrial reference frame. Based on available data sets and simulated observations for further stations and satellite missions the committee studies the impact of technique-specific improvements, new stations, and additional co-locations in space on reference frame products. Simulation studies carried out so far show the importance of the individual station performance and additional stations for satellite laser ranging, the perspectives for lunar laser ranging assuming additional stations and reflectors, and the significant impact of the new VGOS antennas. Significant progress is achieved in processing VLBI satellite tracking data. New insights in technique-specific error sources were derived based on real data from short baselines. Regarding co-location in space PLATO members confirmed that E-GRASP could fulfill the GGOS requirements with reaching a geocenter and scale accuracy and stability of 1 mm and 0.1 mm/year, respectively. [Termes IGN] station de poursuiteRésumé : (auteur) While accuracy of tracking station coordinates is of key importance for Precise Orbit Determination (POD) for altimeter satellites, reliability and operationality are also of great concern. In particular, while recent ITRF realizations should be the most accurate at the time of their computation, they cannot be directly used by the POD groups for operational consideration for several reasons such as new stations appearing in the network or new discontinuities affecting station coordinates. For POD purposes, we computed a new DORIS terrestrial frame called DPOD2008 derived from ITRF2008 (as previously done by DPOD2005 with regards to ITRF2005). In a first step, we will present the method used to validate the past ITRF2008 using more recent DORIS data and to derive new station positions and velocities, when needed. In particular, discontinuities in DORIS station positions and/or velocities are discussed. To derive new DORIS station coordinates, we used recent DORIS weekly time series of coordinates, recent GPS relevant time series at co-located sites and also dedicated GPS campaigns performed by IGN when installing new DORIS beacons. DPOD2008 also contains additional metadata that are useful when processing DORIS data, for example, periods during which DORIS data should not be used or at least for which data should be downweighted. In several cases, a physical explanation can be found for such temporary antenna instability. We then demonstrate improvements seen when using different reference frames, such as the original ITRF2008 solution, for precise orbit determination of altimeter satellites TOPEX/Poseidon and Jason-2 over selected periods spanning 1993–2013.
