[Termes IGN] zone urbaineRésumé : (auteur) In this article, a new feature detection approach based on integration of LiDAR data and visible images in the form of a semi-automatic method has been proposed. In this approach, a two-step method for feature detection was developed using object-based analysis in order to increase the level of automation and level of accuracy in the detection process. The first step is providing a method for integration of two data sources for detection process by maintaining independency between image data and LiDAR altimetric data. In this step, the feature detection process is started based on image data and for detecting areas that detection properly is not done, LiDAR altimetric data is used. In the second step, a new method for detection of vegetation is implemented. Of the characteristics of this method is that there is no need to use the infrared band in the image data and also there is no need for LiDAR intensity data. The implemented method in the recent step is based on the new indices developed for detection of vegetation using three visible bands (red, green, and blue). The results of applying the method on two sample data sets show that the proposed approach and developed indices have the lowest dependency on the type and region of imaging and about each input image data includes visible bands (red, green, and blue) along with LiDAR data (that both data have a high spatial resolution), feature detection process is done with acceptable accuracy. Only thresholds depend on image data and change about different images. The changes are very small. Therefore, using the mean of these thresholds, despite may not be optimal for all image data, but generally is useful and for different images is efficient. In the case of many accessible images from Iran, the thresholds determined optimally by the trial-and-error method, the changes were very small. About the image data of Toronto and Iran which great changes were expected in the thresholds, the optimal thresholds showed very small changes. The results of this research demonstrated that the proposed method can successfully detect urban features (include vegetation, road, and building) with different shapes. Evaluation process showed that the overall accuracy, kappa coefficient, producer’s accuracy, and user’s accuracy of the proposed method about vegetation are 97%, 92%, 96%, and 94%, respectively. Also, the producer’s accuracy, user’s accuracy, and kappa coefficient about the building class are 94%, 95%, and 91%, respectively. About the road class these parameters are 95%, 89%, and 91%. [Termes IGN] superposition d'imagesRésumé : (auteur) The problem of edge detection plays a crucial role in almost all research areas of image processing. If edges are detected accurately, one can detect the location of objects and the parameters such as shape and area can be measured more precisely. In order to overcome the above problem, a feature-based image registration (FBIR) method in combination with an improved version of canny with fuzzy logic is proposed for accurate detection of edges. The major contributions of the present work are summarized in three steps. In the first step, a restoration-based enhancement algorithm is proposed to get a fine image from a distorted noisy image. In the second step, two versions of input images are registered using a modified FBIR approach. In the third step, to overcome the drawback of canny edge detection algorithm, each step of the algorithm is modified. The output is then fed to a “fuzzy inference system”. The “fuzzy rule-based technique”, when applied to the problem of “edge detection”, is very “efficient” because the thickness of the edges can be controlled by simply changing “rules and output parameters”. The domain of the images under consideration is various well-known image databases such as Berkeley and USC-SIPI databases, whereas the proposed method is also suitable for other types of both indoor and outdoor images. The robustness of the proposed method is analysed, compared and evaluated with seven image assessment quality (IAQ) parameters. The performance of the proposed method is compared with some of the state-of-the-art edge detection methods in terms of the seven IAQ parameters. [Termes IGN] seuillageRésumé : (auteur) Variational methods, which have been tremendously successful in image segmentation, work by minimizing a given objective functional. The objective functional usually consists of a fidelity term and a regularization term. Because objective functionals may vary from different types of images, developing an efficient, simple, and general numerical method to minimize them has become increasingly vital. However, many existing methods are model-based, converge relatively slowly, or involve complicated techniques. In this paper, we develop a novel iterative convolution–thresholding method (ICTM) that is simple, efficient, and applicable to a wide range of variational models for image segmentation. In ICTM, the interface between two different segment domains is implicitly represented by the characteristic functions of domains. The fidelity term is usually written into a linear functional of the characteristic functions, and the regularization term is approximated by a functional of characteristic functions in terms of heat kernel convolution. This allows us to design an iterative convolution–thresholding method to minimize the approximate energy. The method has the energy-decaying property, and thus the unconditional stability is theoretically guaranteed. Numerical experiments show that the method is simple, easy to implement, robust, and applicable to various image segmentation models. [Termes IGN] réserve naturelleRésumé : (auteur) Mangrove National Nature Reserves (MNNRs) play an extraordinarily significant role in conserving mangrove forests and their habitats. In China, one-fourth of the total mangrove forests were located in MNNRs. Understanding annual spatial distributions and conversions of these mangrove forests are important for precision conservation and rehabilitation efforts. However, to date, annual land cover maps of China’s MNNRs are still unavailable. Here, we proposed a rapid and robust approach to produce annual maps of each MNNRs for the time period of 2016–2020 based on 10-m resolution Sentinel-2 imagery. The proposed approach was developed using object-based image analysis, Otsu and Random Forest algorithm. Results showed that 1) during 2016–2020, areal extents of mangrove forest in all the MNNRs continuously increased from 5912 ha to 6128 ha; 2) obvious increase were found in Zhanjiang Mangrove National Nature Reserve where mangrove forest increased by 127 ha, accounted for 59% of national total increases; 3) newly grown mangrove forests were mainly converted from tidal flats and aquaculture ponds. Our annual maps of China’s MNNRs could provide a basis for managing mangrove ecosystems and supporting the implementation of Sustainable Development Goals related to coastal development. [Termes IGN] superpixelRésumé : (auteur) Graph-based methods are promising approaches for traditional and modern techniques in change detection (CD) applications. Nonetheless, some graph-based approaches omit the existence of useful priors that account for the structure of a scene, and the inter- and intra-relationships between the pixels are analyzed. To address this issue, in this article, we propose a framework for CD based on graph fusion and driven by graph signal smoothness representation. In addition to modifying the graph learning stage, in the proposed model, we apply a Gaussian mixture model for superpixel segmentation (GMMSP) as a downsampling module to reduce the computational cost required to learn the graph of the entire images. We carry out tests on 14 real cases of natural disasters, farming, and construction. The dataset contains homogeneous cases with multispectral (MS) and synthetic aperture radar (SAR) images, along with heterogeneous cases that include MS/SAR images. We compare our approach against probabilistic thresholding, unsupervised learning, deep learning, and graph-based methods. In terms of Cohen’s kappa coefficient, our proposed model based on graph signal smoothness representation outperformed state-of-the-art approaches in ten out of 14 datasets.
