[Termes IGN] signal BeiDouRésumé : (auteur) With the rapid deployment of the third-generation satellites of the BeiDou Navigation Satellite System (BDS-3), Wuhan University (WHU) has incorporated BDS-3 satellites to its routine Multi-GNSS analysis since Day of Year 1, 2019. This article summarizes the processing strategy and presents the validation results of the WHU BDS-3 orbit and clock solutions submitted to the International GNSS Service Multi-GNSS Experiment in 2019. Although more than 200 stations with B1I and B3I signals tracking capability can be used for BDS-3 precise orbit determination, the number of tracking stations for different satellites diverges greatly; in general, more stations track those launched early and less those deployed late. The validations with orbit boundary misclosures, orbit differences with respect to BDS-3 products of GeoForschungsZentrum (GFZ) and Satellite Laser Ranging (SLR) residuals show that the orbits are affected by the number of tracking stations and the deficiency of dynamic models. To overcome the latter, an a priori solar radiation pressure (SRP) model has been proposed considering the Earth albedo and antenna thrust. The SLR validation shows that the new SRP model significantly improves the orbit from 5 to 7 cm to about 3 to 4 cm by reducing the Sun-elongation-angle-dependent errors of the BDS-3 orbits. Besides, the clock products have been compared with those of GFZ, and the root-mean-square (RMS) of clock linear fit is also analyzed. Noticeable different quality has been shown for Rubidium Atomic Frequency Standard and Passive Hydrogen Maser (PHM) clocks. The Sun-elevation-angle-dependent patterns are identified in PHM clocks, and the RMS of clock linear fit of PHM clocks can be reduced with improved dynamic modeling, particularly in eclipse seasons. [Termes IGN] temps de convergenceRésumé : (auteur) In precise satellite clock estimation, the satellite clock offsets absorb the pseudorange and carrier phase time-variant hardware delays. The dissimilarity of the satellite clock estimated with observations at different frequencies is termed the inter-frequency clock bias (IFCB). The bias inconsistency suggests that the simple ionospheric-free satellite clock cannot directly be applied to the multi-frequency carrier phase observations in multi-frequency precise point positioning (PPP). We propose the carrier phase time-variant observable-specific signal bias (OSB) concept and the corresponding estimation approach to solve this. The definition, rationality, reliability and validity of the carrier phase time-variant OSB are clarified. The new concept advantage is that a set of the carrier phase time-variant OSB values can directly amend on the carrier phase observations, and thereafter, the IFCB effect can be eliminated, which provides the flexibilities for the GNSS carrier phase observation handing. Datasets collected from 144 Multi-GNSS Experiment (MGEX) stations are adopted for the carrier phase time-variant OSB estimation and an analysis of its effect on the GNSS multi-frequency PPP performance. The various multi-frequency PPP models are tested and evaluated considering the carrier phase time-variant OSB correction. The results indicate that the GPS, BDS-2 and BDS-3 carrier phase time-variant OSB time series have the obvious amplitudes and the amplitudes of the Galileo and QZSS carrier phase time-variant OSB are small. The GPS and BDS-2 multi-frequency PPP performance is significantly enhanced when correcting the carrier phase time-variant OSB. The GPS-only kinematic ionospheric-float PPP exhibits the positioning accuracy of 1.0 cm, 2.2 cm and 2.6 cm in the north, east and up components when correcting the carrier phase time-variant OSB, whereas the positioning accuracy of the case without the correction is 1.4 cm, 2.8 cm and 3.7 cm in three directions, respectively. The mean convergence time of two dual-frequency and three triple-frequency BDS-2-only kinematic PPP is reduced by 5.0%, 4.9%, 5.4%, 4.7% and 4.6%, respectively, with the carrier phase time-variant OSB correction. The carrier phase time-variant OSB improvement on BDS-3-only multi-frequency PPP is not obvious owing to the relatively few available and stable carrier phase time-variant OSB values. The reliability, suitability and effectiveness of the GNSS carrier phase time-variant OSB are demonstrated. [Termes IGN] vagueRésumé : (auteur) In this paper, the methods retrieving tide and SWH using reflected BeiDou GEO satellite signals are proposed, and a data-driven method is proposed to calibrate sea state bias of the retrieved tide. In addition, an estimator combining multi-satellite observation based on linear unbiased minimum variance (LUMV) is developed to improve the retrieved precision. The B1I signal experiments in Qingdao and Shenzhen show after calibrating sea state influence using the proposed method, the root-mean-square error (RMSE) could fall to 0.40 m from 0.45 m, and compared to the single-satellite observation, the multi-satellite observation based on the LUMV estimator could significantly reduce the RMSE of the retrieved tide to 0.16 m. Shenzhen experiment is also used to evaluate the performance of retrieving SWH and the determination coefficient of 0.60 is obtained. This paper also conducts Monte Carlo simulation and experiment to evaluate the altimetry and measuring SWH precision using reflected B3I signal. The simulated results when SNR is over 5 dB, incoherent averaging number is 10000, and the receiver bandwidth is over 45 MHz, the estimated precision of the delay can reach up ∼0.15 m, and the precision of the normalized area ranges from 0.2 to 0.3 m. The B3I experiment show that compared to B1I signal, when the reflected signal from individual satellite is used, the better precision with the RMSE of 0.25 can be obtained, and when combining the measurements from the three satellites using LUMV estimator, the RMSE reduces to 0.16 m. Further, the precision of 0.12 m can be obtained by calibrating the sea state influence. [Termes IGN] signal BeiDouRésumé : (auteur) A Beidou navigation satellite system (BDS) receiver with high sensitivity is embarked in a geostationary orbit (GEO) spacecraft to demonstrate characteristics of BDS signals tracked. This receiver can be compatible with the regional (BDS-2) and global (BDS-3) systems, which have three orbit types: medium Earth orbit (MEO), inclined geostationary orbit (IGSO), and GEO. The on-orbit BDS signal characteristics, including observations quantity, availability, position dilution of precision (PDOP), and carrier-to-noise ratio (C/N0), are presented according to in-flight data. The observations and distribution of C/N0 with respect to nadir angles were analyzed. The average number of the BDS satellites tracked is 4.4, and the average PDOP is 12.0. PDOP improves when the BDS GEO and IGSO observations are involved. The maximum value of C/N0 of the BDS-3 MEO satellites is approximately 49 dB-Hz, which is roughly 2 dB higher than that of the BDS-2 MEO satellites. Most of the C/N0 of the BDS-3 MEO satellite at nadir angles beyond 26° is in the range of 27–34 dB-Hz. We reconstruct the transmit antenna gain for all observed BDS satellites using C/N0 measurements. Moreover, we investigate the main and side lobe characteristics of the BDS satellites in terms of different orbit types and satellite manufacturers. The side lobe signals of the BDS-3 MEO generally have 20–30 dB lower gain than the peak main lobe gain. The side lobe signal performance of the BDS-2 MEO is evidently better than that of the BDS-3 MEO. We give side lobe characteristics analysis of the BDS-3 MEO satellites from two different manufacturers based on the transmit antenna gain reconstructed. [Termes IGN] temps de convergenceRésumé : (Auteur) New GNSS signals have significantly augmented positioning service and promoted algorithmic innovations such as rapid PPP convergence. With the emerging of multifrequency signals, it becomes essential to thoroughly explore the contribution of third frequency pseudorange and carrier phase toward PPP. In this study, we research the role of the third frequency observations on accelerating PPP convergence, commencing from both stochastic and functional models. We first constructed the stochastic model depending on the observation noise and then introduced two uncombined functional models with respect to different inter-frequency bias (IFB) estimation strategies. The double-differenced residuals based on a zero baseline were used to evaluate the signal noises, which were 0.09, 0.07, 0.11, 0.01 and 0.09 m for Galileo E1/E5a/E5b/E5/E6 pseudorange and 0.24, 0.31 and 0.05 m for BeiDou B1/B2/B3. Besides, carrier phase observations E5a/E5/E6/B1I/B3I shared a comparable signal noise of 0.002 m, while the signal noises of E1/E5b/B2I were 0.003 m. Both BeiDou-2/Galileo and Galileo-only float PPP were implemented based on the dataset collected from 25 stations, spanning 30 days. Triple-frequency Galileo PPP achieved convergence successfully in 19.9 min if observations were weighted according to observation precision, showing a comparable performance of dual-frequency PPP. Meanwhile, the convergence time of triple-frequency float PPP was further shortened to 19.2 min when satellite pair IFBs were eliminated by estimating a second satellite clock. While the improvement of triple-frequency float PPP was marginal, triple-frequency PPP-AR using signals E1/E5a/E6 shortened the initialization time of the dual-frequency counterpart by 38%. Moreover, the performance of triple-frequency PPP-AR kept almost unchanged after we excluded the third frequency pseudorange observations. We thus suggest that the contribution of the third frequency to PPP mainly rests on ambiguity resolution, favored by the additional carrier phase observations.
