The numerical computational scheme and an approximate accuracy assessment method are also provided. It is extended from the mixed Least squares (LS)–Total least squares (TLS) method to deal with the case that the random columns are corrupted by heteroscedastic correlated noises. The mixed WLS–WTLS method can improve the computational efficiency compared with the existing WTLS methods without loss of accuracy, particularly when the fixed columns are far more than random ones. The Bursa transformation and parallel lines fitting examples are carried out to demonstrate the performance of the proposed algorithm. Since the mixed WLS–WTLS problem includes both the WLS and the WTLS problem, it will have a more wide range of applications. [Termes IGN] voie ferréeRésumé : (auteur) Track regularity is of vital importance in the safety of high speed railway operation. A laser tracker can collect highly accurate three-dimensional (3D) point measurements. Therefore, it is considered as a promising surveying technique for the detection of railway track static irregularity as opposed to using a total station. This study proposes a new approach that uses a laser tracker as the main sensor for obtaining the coordinates of left- and right-track points to detect potential track static irregularities. In this method, the reflecting target of the laser tracker is on a track inspection trolley moving in a round trip along the railway track. A field experiment was conducted to validate the results by comparing the results with the field measurements gathered using a track inspection trolley. The results show that the track static regularity detection method with laser trackers is feasible and indicate that track geometry parameters such as gauges, elevations and lateral deviations of centreline, superelevations, lateral profiles and vertical profiles obtained using the laser tracker and a track inspection trolley are in a good agreement. The average of deviations of track centreline elevations, lateral deviations, and gauges are 0·8, 0·7 and 0·3 mm. [Termes IGN] projection équivalenteRésumé : (Auteur) We developed a direct partitioning method to construct a seamless discrete global grid system (DGGS) with any resolution based on a two-dimensional projected plane and the earth ellipsoid. This DGGS is composed of congruent square grids over the projected plane and irregular ellipsoidal quadrilaterals on the ellipsoidal surface. A new equal area projection named the parallels plane (PP) projection derived from the expansion of the central meridian and parallels has been employed to perform the transformation between the planar squares and the corresponding ellipsoidal grids. The horizontal sides of the grids are parts of the parallel circles and the vertical sides are complex ellipsoidal curves, which can be obtained by the inverse expression of the PP projection. The partition strategies, transformation equations, geometric characteristics and distortions for this DGGS have been discussed. Our analysis proves that the DGGS is area-preserving while length distortions only occur on the vertical sides off the central meridian. Angular and length distortions positively correlate to the increase in latitudes and the spanning of longitudes away from a chosen central meridian. This direct partition only generates a small number of broken grids that can be treated individually. [Termes IGN] système d'information géographiqueRésumé : (Auteur) Geological structures on remotely sensed images, Landsat Thematic Mapper (TM) images in this case, can be classified by quantitative depth information on the basis of the comparison of results from Landsat TM images and geophysical data. Although the lineaments with different depths can be visually interpreted together on Landsat TM images, the depth information and geological significance of these lineaments are however hard to obtain solely from the Landsat TM images of a study area under a thick cover, and it is of much importance for hydrocarbon exploration in the Western Slope Belt of Songliao Basin, northeast China. During the present study, the 3-dimensional field source information, including location and depth information, is derived from 3dimensional Euler deconvolution of gravity data in particular. As an example, it may be quantitatively classified into four groups of depth range: 1000m. It is then superimposed onto the lineaments map from Landsat TM images using a geographical information system (GIS). With a comprehensive analysis of the superimposed maps, we obtain validation and quantitative depth information of the geological structures delineated on the Landsat TM images. Four depth-layered maps of geological structures with different depths are presented here. It is concluded that the number of structures with depth greater than 1000 m on the Landsat TM images is fewer than those at the other three depth ranges. The detection of geological structures on Landsat TM images attributed to depth information derived from the geophysical data may also be possible by this approach.
