[Termes IGN] trajectoire (véhicule non spatial)Résumé : (auteur) The automatic generation of road networks from GPS tracks is a challenging problem that has been receiving considerable attention in the last years. Although dozens of methods have been proposed, current techniques suffer from two main shortcomings: the quality of the produced road networks is still far from those produced manually, and the methods are slow, making them not scalable to large inputs. In this paper, we present a fast four-step density-based approach to construct a road network from a set of trajectories. A key aspect of our method is the use of an improved version of the Slide method to adjust trajectories to build a more compact density surface. The network has comparable or better quality than that of state-of-the-art methods and is simpler (includes fewer nodes and edges). Furthermore, we also propose a split-and-merge strategy that allows splitting the data domain into smaller regions that can be processed independently, making the method scalable to large inputs. The performance of our method is evaluated with extensive experiments on urban and hiking data. [Vedettes matières IGN] GénéralisationRésumé : (Auteur) Map matching is to locate GPS trajectories onto the road networks, which is an important preprocessing step for many applications based on GPS trajectories. Currently, hidden Markov model is one of the most widely used methods for map matching. However, both effectiveness and efficiency of conventional map matching methods based on hidden Markov model will decline in the dense road network, as the number of candidate road segments enormously increases around GPS point. To overcome the deficiency, this paper proposes a segment-based hidden Markov model for map matching. The proposed method first partitions GPS trajectory into several GPS sub-trajectories based on the heading homogeneity and length constraint; next, the candidate road segment sequences are searched out for each GPS sub-trajectory; last, GPS sub-trajectories and road segment sequences are matched in hidden Markov model, and the road segment sequences with the maximum probability is identified. A case study is conducted on a real GPS trajectory dataset, and the experiment result shows that the proposed method improves the effectiveness and efficiency of the conventional HMM map matching method. [Vedettes matières IGN] GéovisualisationRésumé : (auteur) The discovery of zones and people's movement patterns supports a better understanding of modern cities and enables a more comprehensive strategy for urban planning. This article proposes a modified method based on previous research to simultaneously discover people's zones and movement patterns, called movement patterns between functional zones (MPFZ). The method attempts to take full advantage of taxi GPS data to identify MPFZs by merging the movement traces satisfying the merging conditions. Considering movement directions, movement numbers and the adjacent constraints that consist of spatial relationship and attribute features, the merging conditions limit the movement traces to be merged. The new MPFZs are discovered by an iteration process and are measured by the following three evaluation indices: v‐value, a‐value and c‐value, which represent coverage, accuracy and their trade‐off. Using a real‐world taxi dataset of Beijing, 24 new MPFZs are discovered, which have higher v‐, a‐ and c‐values than the unmerged MPFZs. The results of the real‐world dataset experiment show that the proposed approach is effective and efficient. The proposed method can also be applied to other types of transportation data and regions by adjusting the dataset utilized and controlling the iteration process. [Termes IGN] trajectographie par GPSRésumé : (Auteur) Well credited and widely used ionospheric models, such as the International Reference Ionosphere or NeQuick, describe the variation of the electron density with height by means of a piecewise profile tied to the F2-peak parameters: the electron density, NmF2 , and the height, hmF2. Accurate values of these parameters are crucial for retrieving reliable electron density estimations from those models. When direct measurements of these parameters are not available, the models compute the parameters using the so-called ITU-R database, which was established in the early 1960s. This paper presents a technique aimed at routinely updating the ITU-R database using radio occultation electron density profiles derived from GPS measurements gathered from low Earth orbit satellites. Before being used, these radio occultation profiles are validated by fitting to them an electron density model. A re-weighted Least Squares algorithm is used for down-weighting unreliable measurements (occasionally, entire profiles) and to retrieve NmF2 and hmF2 values—together with their error estimates—from the profiles. These values are used to monthly update the database, which consists of two sets of ITU-R-like coefficients that could easily be implemented in the IRI or NeQuick models. The technique was tested with radio occultation electron density profiles that are delivered to the community by the COSMIC/FORMOSAT-3 mission team. Tests were performed for solstices and equinoxes seasons in high and low-solar activity conditions. The global mean error of the resulting maps—estimated by the Least Squares technique—is between 0.5*1010 and 3.6*1010 elec/m-3 for the F2-peak electron density (which is equivalent to 7 % of the value of the estimated parameter) and from 2.0 to 5.6 km for the height ( ~ 2 %).
