[Termes IGN] zone homogèneRésumé : (auteur) Change detection is a topic of great interest in remote sensing. A good similarity metric to compute the variations among the images is the key to high-quality change detection. However, most existing approaches rely on the fixed threshold values or the user-provided ground truth in order to be effective. The inability to deal with artificial objects such as clouds and shadows is a significant difficulty for many change-detection methods. We propose a new unsupervised change-detection framework to address those critical points. The notion of homogeneous regions is introduced together with a set of geometric operations and statistic-based criteria to characterize and distinguish formally the change and nonchange areas in a pair of remote sensing images. Moreover, a robust and statistically well-posed family of stochastic distances is also proposed, which allows comparing the probability distributions of different regions/objects in the images. These stochastic measures are then used to train a support-vector-machine-based approach in order to detect the change/nonchange areas. Three study cases using the images acquired with different sensors are given in order to compare the proposed method with other well-known unsupervised methods. [Termes IGN] zone homogèneRésumé : (auteur) The Chang'e-5 mission of China is planned to be launched in 2019 to the landing area near Mons Rümker located in Oceanus Procellarum. Aiming to generate a high-resolution and high-quality digital orthophoto map (DOM) of the planned landing area for supporting the mission and various scientific analyses, this study developed a systematic and effective method for large-area seamless DOM production. The mapping results of the Chang'e-5 landing area using over 700 Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter Camera (LROC) Narrow Angle Camera (NAC) images are presented. The resultant seamless DOM has a resolution of 1.5 m, covers a large area of 20° in longitude and 4° in latitude, and is tied to SLDEM2015. The results demonstrate that the proposed method can reduce the geometric inconsistencies among the LROC NAC images to the subpixel level and the positional errors with respect to the reference digital elevation model to about one grid cell size. [Termes IGN] zone homogèneRésumé : (Auteur) This paper presents classification methods that enable the division of space into homogeneous areas that combine the spatial characteristics with influence on land use and changes thereof. It was determined that the existing methods do not always include the criteria needed for the aggregation of spatial units into homogeneous groups. The results of the analysis showed that the identified homogenous groups do not fully capture the spatial complexity and diversity important for land use change analyses. For this reason, a new approach to the classification of spatial units based on the unsupervised classification of digital images was proposed. The methodology includes the selection of appropriate indicators, that consider land use more comprehensively and thus enable better classification results. The use of the unsupervised classification method for prevailing land use typology has been tested in Slovenia. At the municipal level, seven types of prevailing land use were identified. [Termes IGN] zone homogèneRésumé : (Auteur) Map databases traditionally capture snapshot representations of the world following strict data collection and representation guidelines. The content of these map databases is often assessed using data quality metrics focusing on accuracy, completeness and consistency. The success of volunteered geographic information, supporting evolving representations of the world based on fluid guidelines, has rendered these measures insufficient. In this paper, we address the need to capture the variability in quality of a map database. We propose a new spatial data quality measure – dataset maturity – enabling assessment of the database based on temporal trends in feature definitions, specifically geometry-type definitions. The proposed measure can be (1) efficiently used to identify feature definition patterns reflecting community consensus that could be formalised in community guidelines and (2) deployed to identify regions that would benefit from increased editorial activity to achieve greater map homogeneity. We demonstrate the measure based on the content of the OpenStreetMap database in four regions of the world and show how the proposed dataset maturity measure captures a distinct quality of the datasets, distinct to data completeness and consistency. [Termes IGN] zone homogèneRésumé : (Auteur) Sparse representation (SR) can transform spectral signatures of hyperspectral pixels into sparse coefficients with very few nonzero entries, which can efficiently be used for compression. In this paper, a spectral-spatial adaptive SR (SSASR) method is proposed for hyperspectral image (HSI) compression by taking advantage of the spectral and spatial information of HSIs. First, we construct superpixels, i.e., homogeneous regions with adaptive sizes and shapes, to describe HSIs. Since homogeneous regions usually consist of similar pixels, pixels within each superpixel will be similar and share similar spectral signatures. Then, the spectral signatures of each superpixel can be simultaneously coded in the SR model to exploit their joint sparsity. Since different superpixels generally have different performances of SR, their rate-distortion performances in the sparse coding will be different. To achieve the best possible overall rate-distortion performance, an adaptive coding scheme is introduced to adaptively assign distortions to superpixels. Finally, the obtained sparse coefficients are quantized and entropy coded and constitute the final bitstream with the coded superpixel map. The experimental results over several HSIs show that the proposed SSASR method outperforms some state-of-the-art HSI compression methods in terms of the rate-distortion and spectral fidelity performances.
