[Vedettes matières IGN] GénéralisationRésumé : (Auteur) Building patterns are important features that should be preserved in the map generalization process. However, the patterns are not explicitly accessible to automated systems. This paper proposes a framework and several algorithms that automatically recognize building patterns from topographic data, with a focus on collinear and curvilinear alignments. For both patterns two algorithms are developed, which are able to recognize alignment-of-center and alignment-of-side patterns. The presented approach integrates aspects of computational geometry, graph-theoretic concepts and theories of visual perception. Although the individual algorithms for collinear and curvilinear patterns show great potential for each type of the patterns, the recognized patterns are neither complete nor of enough good quality. We therefore advocate the use of a multi-algorithm paradigm, where a mechanism is proposed to combine results from different algorithms to improve the recognition quality. The potential of our method is demonstrated by an application of the framework to several real topographic datasets. The quality of the recognition results are validated in an expert survey. Where accurate positioning was once the professional pride of highly trained geodesists, we now see such services provided by GPS-based consumer products. This revolution in technological developments and demand for information implies the need for continuous upgrading of professionals: ‘lifelong learning’. [Termes IGN] variogrammeRésumé : (Auteur) Differential Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) interferometric (D-InSAR) data of ground surface deformation are affected by several error sources associated with image acquisitions and data processing. In this paper, we study the use of D-InSAR for quantifying land subsidence due to groundwater extraction. We model the data as the sum of a trend, a zeromean stochastic process and white noise. A geostatistical approach combines D-InSAR subsidence data with in situ levelling measurements. The objective of this paper is to correct the errors contained in the D-InSAR measurements by using measurements as the ground data to improve their accuracy. Discrepancies between the true subsidence values and original D-InSAR measurements are analysed at levelling points using variograms and predicted at unvisited points using kriging. The integrated measurements are obtained by subtracting the predicted errors from the original D-InSAR measurements. The proposed method is applied to data collected in the Tianjin (China) area where land subsidence occurs due to groundwater extraction. Results demonstrate the capability of the D-InSAR technique for detecting subsidence at the centimetre level, and of using a limited number of levelling points to improve the accuracy of D-InSAR deformation measurements provided the coherence of images used is high enough. Discrepancies between the true subsidence values and D-InSAR measurements are quantified using the root mean square error (RMSE). RMSE for the original data was equal to 2.8, and 0.8 for the integrated data, whereas the mean error was equal to 2.1 and 0.0, respectively. [Termes IGN] triangulation de DelaunayRésumé : (Auteur) Aggregation for spatial objects plays an important role in database or model generalization in GI since reducing spatial complexity is one of the major aims of model generalization. The aggregation operation can be considered as a geometrical operation under the control of semantic and spatial relation of objects. The process of spatial object aggregation is the process of spatial, semantic analyzing, decision-making and the implementation of operation. This process needs not only the geometric and thematic attributes of the objects, but also the spatial and semantic relationship among the objects. It also needs the supporting data structure and analyzing tools in order to make analyzing, decision-making and computation easy in aggregation process. There is still lack of studies on how data structure supports aggregation process and also lack of the method for semantic analysis in aggregation process. This paper is to focus methods and process of spatial aggregation based on semantic and geometric characteristics of spatial objects and relations among the object with the help of spatial data structure (Formal Data Structure), local constrained Delaunay triangulations and semantic hierarchy. The adjacent relation among connected objects an unconnected objects has been studied through constrained triangle as elementary processing unit aggregation operation. The hierarchical semantic analytical matrix is given for analyzing the similarity between object types and between objects (including different levels). It will govern and guide aggregation process. The several different cases of aggregation have been presented in this paper.
