[Termes IGN] semis de pointsIndex. décimale : ESGT Mémoires d'ingénieurs de l'ESGT Résumé : (auteur) À partir de la première moitié du XIXe siècle, les activités humaines en milieu aquatique (canalisation, barrage, extractions de granulats) n’ont cessé de s’intensifier, engendrant les pressions anthropiques aujourd’hui bien connues. L’étude hydromorphologique du lit des cours d’eau, à travers la géométrie à plein bord (niveau, largeur), permet d’analyser leur réponse érosive et leur adaptation aux divers facteurs perturbant leur dynamique. Il s’agit d’indicateurs essentiels à la compréhension de l’équilibre écologique d’un milieu afin d’assurer le bon état de celui-ci au sens de la Directive Cadre sur l’eau. L’utilisation d’un MNT LiDAR pour l’identification automatique des paramètres à plein bords a permis d’obtenir une cartographie continue des largeurs sur l’ensemble d’une plaine alluviale de grand cours d’eau français. Une approche par profondeur hydraulique reprenant les principes décrits par Faux et al (2009) et De Rosa et al (2019) a été mise en place. L’introduction de nouveaux critères de sélection du niveau à plein bords semble permettre d’appliquer cette méthodologie de manière efficace sur des sites à morphologie complexe. [Termes IGN] système d'information géographiqueRésumé : (auteur) In this study a new method of locating culverts is presented with the composition of achieved discharge from hydrological analysis and simulated forest roads in RoadEng 3D simulator to improve drainage condition. Locating culverts was performed on a small scale (1:20 000, using GIS) and large scale (1:2 000, road geometric design simulator). The small-scale study regarding the achieved discharge from streams shows that the installation of some culverts is not necessary. The large-scale study also showed that the geometric design of forest road has a significant effect on locating culverts and its accuracy. To improve drainage conditions 6 culverts and 2 waterfronts taking into account the geometric design of forest road, hydrological conditions and appropriate intervals (155 m) have been proposed. No installation or lack of accuracy to find the best location of culverts may result in the occurrence of creep and landslide, so the cost of destruction would be several times higher than the cost of technical buildings construction. [Termes IGN] zone d'intérêtRésumé : (auteur) The objective of this study was to identify potential runoff storage zones based on the various physical characteristics of the Vishwamitri watershed using a GIS-based conceptual framework that combines through analytic hierarchy process using multi criteria decision-making method. The conceptual framework will help to identify potential runoff storage zones for water storage sites based on the various physical characteristics (rainfall, slope, land use/land cover, height above the nearest drainage, stream order, curve number, topographic wetness index) of the watershed. It was found out that 17% of the area is optimally suitable, 33.2% of the area is moderately suitable, 33.1% of the area is marginally suitable and 18.7% of the area is not suitable for water storage zones/structures. Results will help concerned authorities in the proficient arrangement and execution of water-related plans and schemes, improve water shortage, reduce dependability on ground water and ensure sustainable water availability for local and agricultural purposes in the study area. [Termes IGN] test de performanceRésumé : (auteur) Augmented Reality (AR) sandtables facilitate the shaping of sand to form a surface that is transformed into a digital terrain map which is projected back onto the sand. Although a mature technology, there are still few instances of sandtables being used in surface analysis. Fundamentally there has not been any reported formal assessment of how well sandtables perform in an educational context compared to other conventional learning environments. We compared learning outcomes from using an AR sandtable versus a conventional 3D GIS to convey key concepts in terrain and hydrological analyses via usability and knowledge testing. Overall results from students at a research-intensive New Zealand university reveal a faster task performance and more learning satisfaction when using the sandtable to undertake experimental tasks. Effectiveness and knowledge quiz results revealed no significant difference between the technologies though there was a trend for more accurate answers with 3D GIS tasks. Student learning wise, the sandtable integrated core concepts (especially morphometry) more effectively though both technologies were otherwise similar. We conclude that sandtables have high potential in geospatial teaching, fostering accessible and engaging means of introducing terrain and hydrological concepts, prior to undertaking a more accurate and precise surface analysis with 3D GIS. Therefore, persistent efforts are required to improve our understanding of hydrological processes and to engage in efficient water management strategies that explicitly consider changing environmental conditions. The twenty-four contributions in this book have broadly addressed topics across four major research areas: (1) Climate and land-use change impacts on hydrological processes, (2) hydrological trends and causality analysis faced in hydrology, (3) hydrological model simulations and predictions, and (4) reviews on water prices and climate extremes. The broad spectrum of international contributions to the Special Issue indicates that climate change impacts on water resources analysis attracts global attention.
