[Termes IGN] zone urbaineRésumé : (auteur) The suitability assessment of land use is crucial to avoid wasting land resources. However, the traditional methods with subjective weights are prone to reduce the reasonability and reliability of assessment. For filling this knowledge gap, the probability neural network (PNN) coupled with GIS was adopted to evaluate the land use suitability in this paper. According to the applications of the urban land resource, the land use was divided into three types (resident, industry and ecological reserve). Thus, the three different assessment criteria systems were built for the three land use types. The result of residential land use indicated that the most suitable, suitable and normal suitable residential land were 401, 272 and 12,406 km2 and mainly located in Changhai, Lvshun and Pulandian accordingly. The most suitable land for industry was in Ganjingzi, Jinzhou and Wafangdian and accounted for 22% of the total area. While the most suitable land for ecological reserve was in Pulandian and Zhuanghe with the area of 1967 km2. The results indicated that the south of Dalian was suitable for the residential land use, north of Dalian was suitable for the ecological land use and the central was suitable for industrial land use. The results were coincided to the actual spatial distribution of land use. The proposed PNN coupled with GIS assessment method in suitability of land use is conducted to provide a more reasonable assessment result that can be used by managers and regulators. [Termes IGN] patrimoine naturelRésumé : (auteur) National Forest Inventories (NFIs) play an important role in understanding the state of forests at the national and regional levels. Forest inventory for small territorial areas, such as municipalities, is also important for decision-makers. However, information is relatively limited at this level. As a result, developing small area estimation (SAE) approaches has gained increasing popularity in the field of forest inventory. It enables prediction of forest attributes for sub-populations using regression models based on auxiliary data commonly derived from remote sensing techniques over an area of interest (AOI). It has been reported that SAE can improve the precision of forest inventory without increasing costs (Mandallaz, Breschan and Hill 2013) and may produce reliable predictions of forest attributes locally, even when field plots are not available (Rao 2014). Tomppo (2006) is a pioneer in the use of auxiliary data for multisource forest inventory. Previously, common sources of auxiliary data often came from satellite-based imagery (McRoberts et al. 2007), digital aerial photogrammetry (Breidenbach et al. 2018), and airborne laser scanning (Magnussen et al. 2014). NASA’s newly-launched Global Ecosystem Dynamics Investigation (GEDI) is a full waveform LiDAR instrument aboard the International Space Station (ISS). Its products consist of footprint measurements projected to cover 4% of the global land surface by the end of its mission (Dubayah et al. 2020). This will provide an unprecedented opportunity to systematically collect samples of forest information that can be used in SAE on a large scale. The objective of this study is to explore the possibility of using GEDI auxiliary data to improve the accuracy of forest inventory for a large natural area in central France (Sologne), as well as for smaller sub-areas defined by French administrative boundaries (departments). The results will then be compared against estimates obtained from simple random sampling (SRS), to assess the efficiency of the auxiliary data. Chaque fiche-espèce comprendra une description, l’écologie, la phénologie, le risque de confusion avec une autre espèce, la répartition en Isle-Crémieu, en Isère, en Rhône-Alpes et en France, son degré de rareté en Isle-Crémieu ainsi que les statuts de protection éventuels. [Termes IGN] Time-geographyRésumé : (auteur) Time-geographic density estimation (TGDE) is a method of movement pattern analysis that generates a continuous intensity surface from a set of tracking data. TGDE has recently been proposed as a method of animal home range estimation, where the goal is to delineate the spatial extents that an animal occupies. This paper tests TGDE’s effectiveness as a home range estimator using simulated movement data. First, an agent-based model is used to simulate tracking data under 16 movement scenarios representing a variety of animal life history traits (habitat preferences, homing behaviour, mobility) and habitat configurations (levels of habitat fragmentation). Second, the accuracy of TGDE is evaluated for four temporal sampling frequencies using three adaptive velocity parameters for 30 sample data sets from each scenario. Third, TGDE accuracy is compared to two other common home range estimation methods, kernel density estimation (KDE) and characteristic hull polygons (CHP). The results demonstrate that TGDE is the most effective at estimating core areas, home ranges and total areas at high sampling frequencies, while CHP performs better at low sampling frequencies. KDE was ineffective across all scenarios explored. The BWI distinguishes a total of 51 tree species or tree species groups. This tree atlas informs about the distribution and the ecological relevance of the 31 most important tree species in Germany in the natural forest community of a sample point. It separately outlines the categories of pioneer tree species, accessory or mandatory climax tree species or tree species outside the natural distribution area. The categorization is, for instance, the basis for determining the naturalness of the tree species composition1 in the BWI.
