[Termes IGN] WebSIGRésumé : (auteur) Calibration of agent-based models (ABMs) is a major challenge due to the complex nature of the systems being modeled, the heterogeneous nature of geographical regions, the varying effects of model inputs on the outputs, and computational intensity. Nevertheless, ABMs need to be carefully tuned to achieve the desirable goal of simulating spatiotemporal phenomena of interest, and a well-calibrated model is expected to achieve an improved understanding of the phenomena. To address some of the above challenges, this article proposes an integrated framework of global sensitivity analysis (GSA) and calibration, called GSA-CAL. Specifically, variance-based GSA is applied to identify input parameters with less influence on differences between simulated outputs and observations. By dropping these less influential input parameters in the calibration process, this research reduces the computational intensity of calibration. Since GSA requires many simulation runs, due to ABMs' stochasticity, we leverage the high-performance computing power provided by the advanced cyberinfrastructure. A spatially explicit ABM of influenza transmission is used as the case study to demonstrate the utility of the framework. Leveraging GSA, we were able to exclude less influential parameters in the model calibration process and demonstrate the importance of revising local settings for an epidemic pattern in an outbreak. [Termes IGN] similitude sémantiqueRésumé : (auteur) Locating points of interest (POIs) from descriptions can support intelligent location-based services. Available research achieves it through address matching and spatial reasoning. However, semantic characteristics and spatial proximities of address fields are usually neglected in address matching; current applications of spatial reasoning represent qualitative spatial relations in semantic networks for efficient queries, but they do not yet scale to large datasets for qualitative direction reasoning due to massive qualitative direction relations between objects; moreover, spatial reasoning on various quantitative distances should be optimized. This study proposes a method that improves the accuracy of address matching by combining multiple similarities and enables quick spatial reasoning through the faster relation retrieval of compact qualitative direction representations implemented on global equal latitude and longitude grids (ELLGs) and the ELLG-based quantitative calculations. The proposed method has been verified by two real-world datasets and proven to be efficient and accurate when locating POIs in large POI datasets from descriptions. [Termes IGN] réseau routierRésumé : (auteur) Numerous studies have shown that OpenStreetMap (OSM) data can achieve high positional quality. However, the thematic attributes of OSM objects can be modified several times, which has a large impact on semantic heterogeneity. Identifying transition patterns within OSM feature classes is an important preliminary step for the tag recommendation algorithm, which can reduce the number of modifications and enhance the efficiency of OSM data updates. In this article, we propose an approach for discovering transition patterns among OSM feature classes. We first produced the transition matrix of feature classes and then developed a graph. Next, the Louvain method for community detection was utilized to cluster the feature classes. OSM data from Indiana, USA, and the Azores, Portugal, were used for our experiments. Some transition patterns were discovered: (1) many feature classes with the most transitions are the same in both datasets and most transitions occur in road-related feature classes; (2) people tend to tag general classes if they are unsure of the specific classes of tagged objects; and (3) most class transitions occurred as a result of volunteers improving the specificity and precision of feature classes. Moreover, consistently confusing concept pairs were identified. [Termes IGN] Wuhan (Chine)Résumé : (auteur) While daily periodic movements of individuals have been widely studied, their collective dynamics are not understood. To capture periodic collective dynamics, this article represents individual daily movements as a time series of directed weighted origin–destination (OD) networks, and proposes an approach to identify a sub-network called the “recurrent OD network”, which contains frequent edges appearing in each day. Taxi trajectory data over a period of 6 months in Wuhan, China are used for the case study. Here, we extracted the recurrent OD networks for each 2-h period on a given day, and compared them with the corresponding “major OD network” defined by both frequent and infrequent edges. Results show that the recurrent OD networks coincidentally exhibit spatially localized community structures and distinctive patterns of inflow and outflow for each region within a day. Overall, both methodology and findings in this study might make significant contributions in a range of fields, such as urban planning, regional economic development, and infectious disease control.
