[Termes IGN] système d'information foncièreRésumé : (auteur) In many western countries, publicly led mapping activities and recording information of land parcels and buildings and the related rights, restrictions, and responsibilities have established their roles as important pillars of a functioning society. National mapping, cadastral, and land registry authorities as public agencies responsible for conducting these tasks are in a key position in shaping the development of the whole land administration sector. Most of these authorities have formulated their purposes, directions, and goals in the form of strategies. There is, however, a lack of understanding of the type of goals these authorities pursue through their strategies and why. Using an online questionnaire as a method, this study explores the strategy goals as well as the strategy drivers of national mapping, cadastral, and land registry authorities. We find that the strategy goals converge to a great extent and relate particularly to digitalization, data properties, customers and needs of society, and organizational development. Further, we observe that the strategy work of these authorities is most often driven by changes in the customer needs and by changes in the government’s policies. The contribution of the study lies in providing an overview of how national mapping, cadastral, and land registry authorities frame their near-future development and in highlighting that albeit the goals, for the most part, align with the qualities of a good, neutral land administration system, the authorities show low tendency to pursue transformative or paradigmatic changes through their strategies. The development of a single geographical feature could destroy the geographical correlation. It is necessary to establish collaborative generalization models suitable for multiple features. However, existing road network generalization methods for mapping purposes do not fully consider residential areas. Compared with road networks, residential areas have a higher priority in cartographic generalization. In this regard, this study proposes a road network generalization method constrained by residential areas. First, the roads and settlements obtained from clustering residential areas were classified. Next, the importance of the settlements was evaluated and certain settlements were selected as the control features. Subsequently, a geographical network with the settlements as the nodes was built, and the traffic paths between adjacent settlements were searched. Finally, redundant paths between the settlements were simplified, and the visual continuity and topological connectivity were checked. The data of a 1:50,000 road network and residential areas were used as the experimental data. The experimental results demonstrated that the proposed method preserves the overall structure and relative density characteristics of the road network, as well as the geographical correlation between the road network and residential areas. [Termes IGN] vulnérabilitéRésumé : (auteur) The use of Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) represents a rather innovative, quick, and low-cost methodological approach offering applications in several fields of investigation. The present study illustrates the developed method using Digital Elevation Models (DEMs) based on UAV-derived data for evaluating short-term morphological-topographic changes of the beach system and related implications for coastal vulnerability assessment. UAV surveys were performed during the summers of 2019 and 2020 along a beach stretch affected by erosion, located along the central Adriatic coast. Acquired high-resolution aerial photos were used to generate large-scale DEMs as well as orthophotos of the beach using the Structure from Motion (SfM) image processing tool. Comparison of the generated 2019 and 2020 DEMs highlighted significant morphological changes and a sediment volume loss of about 780 m3 within a surface area of about 4400 m2. Based on 20 m spaced beach profiles derived from the DEMs, a coastal vulnerability assessment was performed using the CVA approach that highlighted some significant variations in the CVA index between 2019 and 2020. Results evidence that UAV surveys provide high-resolution topographic data, suitable for specific beach monitoring activities and the updating of some parameters that enter in the CVA model contributing to its correct application.
