[Termes IGN] zone semi-arideRésumé : (auteur) This article explores the advantages and limitations of open-source digital elevation models (DEMs) generated from various acquisition methods and at various spatial resolutions, through extracting geomorphic surface remnants in a semi-arid, mountainous topographic environment. Even if the tested models have well-known vertical accuracy and precision, their reliability for peak detection is still waiting to be studied. In this research, we investigate peaks as remnants of degraded geomorphic surfaces. Peaks of surface remnants can help to reconstruct geomorphic surfaces and evaluate DEM applicabilities, since they can enhance the identification of overall accuracy. Our methodology uses a well-known open-source GRASS GIS Geomorphons module (r.geomorphon) on several recently released and widely used DEMs covering the Desatoya Mountains study area. We conclude that, despite the characteristic differences in the accuracy of the analyzed DEMs, all of those examined proved to be appropriate to detect surface remnants. The quality of such maps is affected by several factors, such as (a) the matching between the features on images and the graphic symbols from maps, (b) the complexity of background images, and (c) the representation of graphic and text symbols on the images. This project deals with the first issue. The current solution is that the accuracy of images should satisfy the accuracy standard of maps. However, images with different resolutions can satisfy the standard for a specific map scale. This may lead to a situation in which the levels of detail (LoD) in images may not match the complexity of map features although the planimetric accuracy is matched. To solve this problem, we developed a complexity-based matching between the image resolution and map scale. More precisely, the matching is based on the complexity of line features. Experimental evaluations were conducted in 15 representative areas in Hong Kong using maps at seven scales and eight image resolutions. Results show that the proposed complexity-based method is capable of obtaining good matching between image resolution and map scale in terms of both accuracy and users’ preference. [Termes IGN] ontologieRésumé : (auteur) Integrating heterogeneous geospatial data sources is important in various domains like smart cities, urban planning and governance, but remains a challenging research problem. In particular, the production of high-quality integrated data from multiple sources requires an understanding of their respective characteristics and a systematic assessment of the consistency within and between the data sources. In order to perform the assessment, the data has to be placed on a common ground. However, in practice, heterogeneous geodata are often provided in diverse formats and organized in significantly different structures. In this work, we propose a framework that uses an ontology-based approach to overcome the heterogeneity by means of a domain ontology, so that consistency rules can be evaluated at the unified ontological representation of the data sources. In our case study, we use open governmental data from Open Data Portals (ODPs) and volunteered geographic information from OpenStreetMap (OSM) as two test data sources in the area of the province of South Tyrol, Italy. Our preliminary experiment shows that the approach is effective in detecting inconsistencies within and between ODP and OSM data. These findings provide valuable insights for a better combined usage of these datasets. In this research GPS broadcast, ultra-rapid, rapid and precise satellite ephemerides are used for processing different baseline lengths among some CORS stations by using the Trimble Business Center software (TBC) and different satellite ephemerides (NRCan ultra-rapid, NRCan rapid and IGS final) are tested in CSRS-PPP online application at the same CORS stations.In this research, when using TBC software for processing the different baseline lengths by using the different satellite eph-emerides and compared the coordinates of CORS stations which obtained from the different satellite ephemerides with each other. The results showed that the best satellite ephemerides closest to rapid and final satellite ephemerides are the ultra-rapid (00 UTC) and ultra-rapid (06 UTC). When processing the same CORS stations which used at TBC on CSRS-PPP online application by using the different satellite ephemerides it is found also that the NRCan ultra-rapid closest to final satellite ephemerides. We contend not only that cartography is a coherent and distinctive discipline (although we do consider the semantics involved in, and rationale for, referring to it by that name), but that human society cannot function without maps. The major reason for this is that each map is created for a human or societal purpose – and this purpose defines the nature and utility of the map. The role of a map defines the very nature of a map itself, and we reflect on the creation, functionality, and success of mapping activity. This leads us to conclude with pointers to functional definition of the map.
