[Termes IGN] utilisateur civilRésumé : (auteur) Pour comprendre avec quelle efficacité les cartes numériques des langues autochtones rejoignent divers publics, l’auteur mène, auprès d’utilisateurs, une étude faisant appel à une méthodologie mixte portant sur les expériences de navigation en ligne de 23 usagers autochtones et non autochtones, âgés de moins de 30 ans et de plus de 30 ans, recrutés dans une université canadienne et appelés à s’acquitter d’une série de tâches dans le cadre de la consultation d’un atlas de langues autochtones canadiennes. Un élément d’évaluation permet de jauger l’efficacité avec laquelle l’étude elle-même permet de mesurer ces expériences. Les participants autochtones ont jugé l’atlas plus pertinent et utile et se sont concentrés davantage sur son contenu linguistique, alors que les participants non autochtones se sont plus particulièrement intéressés au modèle et à la structure du cadre conceptuel de l’atlas. Les atlas linguistiques numériques permettent de mieux cerner les populations autochtones canadiennes en insistant sur les représentations multimodales du contenu linguistique et en proposant des liens facilement accessibles vers des ressources supplémentaires provenant des communautés représentées. Bien que l’étude circonscrive bel et bien les multiples dimensions des expériences des utilisateurs, la faible participation autochtone réduit l’efficacité des analyses statistiques comparatives. Il serait opportun, dans des recherches ultérieures, d’améliorer la représentation autochtone en mettant en œuvre des méthodes de recrutement persuasives, adaptées aux populations autochtones. [Termes IGN] test de performanceRésumé : (auteur) There are many positioning methods based on the usage of GNSS (Global Navigation Satellite System). They are classified according to the accuracy they can achieve, the time needed to obtain fixed solutions and the concept of positioning - number of used receivers, type of measurement, type of GNSS system, etc. One of the most important ways to do this is PPP (Precise Point Positioning) method, primarily because of its simplicity and cost-effectiveness. The paper describes PPP positioning method, its advantages and limitations, as well as the errors that can occur. It also provides an analysis of the performance of PPP method - precision, convergence time, loss of data reception, repeatability of positioning results and accuracy based on three measurement series in duration of 4 hours each, conducted on different days. By comparing the obtained coordinates with reference ones determined by AUSPOS web service, it can be concluded that the difference between these two sets of coordinates varies from 1 cm to 7 cm, while the accuracy of measured height is lower and the difference varies from 7 cm to 20 cm. [Termes IGN] semis de pointsRésumé : (Auteur) The paper provides some operative replies to evaluate the effectiveness and the critical issues of the simultaneous localisation and mapping (SLAM)-based mobile mapping system (MMS) called ZEB by GeoSLAM™ https://geoslam.com/technology/. In these last years, this type of handheld 3D mapping technology has increasingly developed the framework of portable solutions for close-range mapping systems that have mainly been devoted to mapping the indoor building spaces of enclosed or underground environments, such as forestry applications and tunnels or mines. The research introduces a set of test datasets related to the documentation of landscape contexts or the 3D modelling of architectural complexes. These datasets are used to validate the accuracy and informative content richness about ZEB point clouds in stand-alone solutions and in cases of combined applications of this technology with multisensor survey approaches. In detail, the proposed validation method follows the fulfilment of the endorsed approach by use of root mean square error (RMSE) evaluation and deviation analysis assessment of point clouds between SLAM-based data and 3D point cloud surfaces computed by more precise measurement methods to evaluate the accuracy of the proposed approach. Furthermore, this study specifies the suitable scale for possible handlings about these peculiar point clouds and uses the profile extraction method in addition to feature analyses such as corner and plane deviation analysis of architectural elements. Finally, because of the experiences reported in the literature and performed in this work, a possible reversal is suggested. If in the 2000s, most studies focused on intelligently reducing the light detection and ranging (LiDAR) point clouds where they presented redundant and not useful information, contrariwise, in this sense, the use of MMS methods is proposed to be firstly considered and then to increase the information only wherever needed with more accurate high-scale methods. [Termes IGN] zone semi-arideRésumé : (auteur) Biomass estimation of eastern Mediterranean shrublands was investigated using PALSAR full- and dual-polarization L-band and Sentinel-1 dual-polarization C-band data. First, we conducted an empirical assessment of single and multiple regressions between polarized backscattering coefficients and shrubland biomass distribution along the climatic gradient between semiarid and arid regions. We then found that the PALSAR L-band HV-polarized backscattering coefficient has higher biomass information content than Sentinel-1 C-band data. Based on a theoretical volume scattering model and a semiempirical model, we propose a new polarimetric radar vegetation index (PRVI) that utilizes the degree of polarization and the cross-polarized backscattering coefficient. The relationship between the new index and the biomass was assessed with reference to normalized difference vegetation index-based biomass estimates calculated using Landsat imagery. The PRVI was found to have higher correlation with biomass compared with other radar polarization parameters, in general, and an existing radar vegetation index (RVI), in particular. Assessment of PRVI-based biomass predictions compared with allometric data extracted from air photographs, Lidar, and field data for 67 sites across the desert fringe zone indicated moderate performance with an RMSE of 0.329 kg/m 2 , while an RVI-based biomass estimation had an RMSE of 0.439 kg/m². [Termes IGN] surveillance forestièreRésumé : (auteur) In this study, the potential of Sentinel-1 data to seasonally monitor temperate forests was investigated by analyzing radar signatures observed from plots in the Fontainebleau Forest of the Ile de France region, France, for the period extending from March 2015 to January 2016. Radar backscattering coefficients, σ0 and the amplitude of temporal interferometric coherence profiles in relation to environmental variables are shown, such as in situ precipitation and air temperature. The high temporal frequency of Sentinel-1 acquisitions (i.e., twelve days, or six, if both Sentinel-1A and B are combined over Europe) and the dual polarization configuration (VV and VH over most land surfaces) made a significant contribution. In particular, the radar backscattering coefficient ratio of VV to VH polarization, σ0VV/σ0VH , showed a well-pronounced seasonality that was correlated with vegetation phenology, as confirmed in comparison to NDVI profiles derived from Landsat-8 (r = 0.77) over stands of deciduous trees. These results illustrate the high potential of Sentinel-1 data for monitoring vegetation, and as these data are not sensitive to the atmosphere, the phenology could be estimated with more accuracy than optical data. These observations will be quantitatively analyzed with the use of electromagnetic models in the near future.
