[Termes IGN] surface cultivéeRésumé : (auteur) Global urbanization changes land cover patterns and affects the living environment of humans. However, urbanization and its evolution process, i.e., conversions among diverse land covers, are hard to measure, as existing land cover maps usually have low temporal resolutions; conversely, long-term and temporally dense land cover maps, such as vegetation-impervious-soil decomposition maps base on MODIS, ignore the important land cover of cropland in urban evolution process (UEP). To resolve the issue, this study suggests a novel model named time-extended non-crop vegetation-impervious-cropland (Time V-I-C) to represent and quantify different stages of UEP; then, a normalized multi-objective T-ConvLSTM (NMT) method is proposed to unmix cropland, non-crop vegetation, and impervious based on the intra-annual remotely-sensed time series, and obtain their fractions in each pixel for generating UEP maps. Consequently, UEP maps from 2001 to 2018 are generated for two Chinese urban agglomerations, i.e., Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei and Yangtze River Delta urban agglomerations. The mapping results have high accuracies with a small standard error of regression (SER) of 13.1%, small root mean square error (RMSE) of 12.6%, and small mean absolute error (MAE) of 8.4%, and the maps reveal the different UEP in the two urban agglomerations. Therefore, this study provides a new idea for expressing UEP and contributes to a wide range of urbanization studies and sustainable city development. [Termes IGN] zone urbaineRésumé : (auteur) Abandoned houses (AH) present an utmost challenge confronting the urban environment in contemporary U.S. shrinking cities. Data accessibility is a major hurdle that prevents the acquisition of large-scale AH information at the individual property level. To this end, the latest revolution of open-access remote sensing platforms has witnessed a plethora of multi-source, multi-perspective fine-spatial-resolution data for urban environments, among which very-high-resolution (VHR) top-down view remote sensing images and horizontal-perspective Google Street View (GSV) images are prominent exemplifiers. In this study, we aim to map individual-level abandoned houses across cities by developing a method that can effectively leverage VHR remote sensing and GSV images. The proposed method is composed of four steps. First, we explored the feasibility of the three most relevant and complementary remote sensing data for individual-level AH detection, i.e., daytime VHR images, nighttime light VHR images, and GSV images. Second, we extracted discriminative features that are indicative of housing abandonment conditions from the three disparate data sources. Third, we applied decision-level fusion with Dempster-Shafer Theory (DST) to better leverage the prior knowledge about data effectiveness. In the last step, a geographical random forests (GRF) model was first implemented to improve the predictions of where houses were occluded on GSV images. We mapped individual AH in two typical U.S. shrinking cities, Buffalo, NY, and Cleveland, OH, which allowed us to further explore the individual-property-level spatial characteristics of AH. Results revealed that the proposed DST fusion and GRF prediction consistently achieved promising performance across the two cities. Given the merits of incorporating open-access and multi-perspective data, our proposed method has the potential to be generalized to understanding regional and national-scale urban environments tackling housing abandonment challenges. [Termes IGN] principe d'équivalenceRésumé : (auteur) The MICROSCOPE mission was designed to test the weak equivalence principle (WEP), stating the equality between the inertial and the gravitational masses, with a precision of 10−15 in terms of the Eötvös ratio η. Its experimental test consisted of comparing the accelerations undergone by two collocated test masses of different compositions as they orbited the Earth, by measuring the electrostatic forces required to keep them in equilibrium. This was done with ultrasensitive differential electrostatic accelerometers onboard a drag-free satellite. The mission lasted two and a half years, cumulating five months worth of science free-fall data, two-thirds with a pair of test masses of different compositions—titanium and platinum alloys—and the last third with a reference pair of test masses of the same composition—platinum. We summarize the data analysis, with an emphasis on the characterization of the systematic uncertainties due to thermal instabilities and on the correction of short-lived events which could mimic a WEP violation signal. We found no violation of the WEP, with the Eötvös parameter of the titanium and platinum pair constrained to η(Ti,Pt)=[−1.5±2.3(stat)±1.5(syst)]×10−15 at 1σ in statistical errors. [Termes IGN] temps réelRésumé : (auteur) This paper focuses on PPP-B2b, one of the featured services for BDS-3, which provides users around China with centimetre-level static positioning accuracy and decimetre-level kinematic positioning accuracy by broadcasting precise corrections for GPS/BDS-3 satellites. The GEO PPP-B2b signal broadcasted information types, including the PRN mask, orbit corrections, differential code bias corrections and clock corrections, are introduced, as well as a brief description of their usage. A new orbit determination strategy using regional L-band code/phase measurements and inter-satellite link measurements in combination and a real-time clock estimation strategy based on the Kalman filter for PPP-B2b precise correction generation are introduced in this contribution. Then, the accuracy of the orbit and clock corrections is assessed. The orbit user ranging error (URE) is 0.05 m for the BDS-3 MEO and GPS satellites. The orbit URE for BDS-3 IGSO satellites is worse, i.e., 0.15 m. The clock correction accuracy is 0.2 ns for BDS-3 and GPS satellites. Finally, the PPP-B2b performance is validated by both the static PPP process and simulated kinematic PPP process. BDS-3/GPS dual-system PPP offers faster convergence and better accuracy. The positioning accuracy achievable using PPP-B2b real-time products is at the same level as that using post-processed products. The RMS for BDS-3/GPS dual-system static positioning errors is less than 1.0 cm in east and north and about 3.0 cm in the up. The simulated kinematic positioning accuracy is better than 2.5 cm in the north, 3.5 cm in the east and 8.5 cm in the up directions after convergence. Analyses at the parcel level allow taking into account the administrative and physical environment of buildings with accuracy (roads, surrounding buildings, local design rules for building construction). In this article, we propose a free and open source software application, namely Parcel Manager, whose aims are twofold: (1) to assess the effects of different parcel reshaping rules and planning principles on the location, the number, and the shape of reshaped parcels; and (2) to provide a basis to assess the potential for new building construction. To this end, Parcel Manager simulates a large variety of parcel reshaping processes, with or without the joint creation of new roads, and produces realistic parcel layouts that represent either infill urban developments, edge expansions, or leapfrog developments. It can be used to determine if the densification of built parcels is feasible or not, regarding planning and design rules as well as the current urban fabric. The current version of Parcel Manager only concerns the reshaping of parcels dedicated to the construction of residential buildings but not other types of buildings.
