[Termes IGN] structure-from-motionRésumé : (auteur) This paper presents an investigation as to whether and how the selection of the SfM-MVS software affects the 3D reconstruction of submerged archaeological sites. Specifically, Agisoft Photoscan, VisualSFM, SURE, 3D Zephyr and Reality Capture software were used and evaluated according to their performance in 3D reconstruction using specific metrics over the reconstructed underwater scenes. It must be clarified that the scope of this study is not to evaluate specific algorithms or steps that the various software use, but to evaluate the final results and specifically the generated 3D point clouds. To address the above research issues, a dataset from the ancient shipwreck, laying at 45 meters below sea level, is used. The dataset is composed of 19 images having very small camera to object distance (1 meter), and 42 images with higher camera to object distance (3 meters) images. Using a common bundle adjustment for all 61 images, a reference point cloud resulted from the lower dataset is used to compare it with the point clouds of the higher dataset generated using the different photogrammetric packages. Following that, a comparison regarding the number of total points, cloud to cloud distances, surface roughness, surface density and a combined 3D metric was done to evaluate and see which one performed the best. Les images satellites utilisées sont issues de la mission Sentinel-2 et permettent une évaluation de l’humidité du sol à une résolution d’environ vingt mètres. Des échantillons de sols ont été collectés dans différentes prairies pour établir des données de référence d’humidité du sol. Puis, des liens entre l’humidité des sols mesurée et la radiométrie des prairies ont été recherchés via l’emploi d’indices optiques et de méthodes statistiques de corrélation avec les observations et les mesures in situ réalisées. Cependant, la densité du couvert végétal des prairies ajoute une couche d’incertitudes du fait de l’influence de nombreux paramètres de végétation. Vingt indices optiques ont été utilisés afin de définir expérimentalement les plus appropriés. A l’issue du projet, la meilleure corrélation obtenue a un score R2 de 0.9 avec 11 point de référence. Les résultats ont permis de réaliser une classification de l’estimation de l’humidité des sols. Ainsi, les résultats sont prometteurs et donnent une bonne corrélation entre l’humidité des sols pour le jeu de données d’une acquisition terrain et la radiométrie des images satellites. Cependant, les autres acquisitions terrain ne permettent pas d’obtenir une telle corrélation et soulignent la nécessité de développer une nouvelle méthode réduisant l’impact une nouvelle méthode des autres facteurs qui changent la radiométrie optique de la végétation. Given the magnitude of global environmental changes taking place, it is important that Earth Science researchers have access to spatiotemporal reasoning tools. One area of particular interest is land-use change. Using data obtained from images, researchers would like to express abstractions such as ‘land abandonment’, ‘forest regrowth’, and ‘agricultural intensification’. These abstractions are specific types of land-use trajectories, defined as multi-year paths from one land cover into another. Given this need, this paper introduces a spatiotemporal calculus for reasoning about land-use trajectories. Using Allen’s interval logic as a basis, we introduce new predicates that express cases of recurrence, conversion and evolution in land-use change. The proposed predicates are sufficient and necessary to express different kinds of land-use trajectories. Users can build expressions that describe how humans modify Earth’s terrestrial surface. In this way, scientists can better understand the environmental and economic effects of land-use change. We calculate the Fisher information matrix and the Cramer-Rao lower bound associated with the estimation of the abundance matrix in the considered fully-perturbed linear spectral unmixing problem. We develop an algorithm for estimating the abundance matrix by minimizing a constrained and regularized maximum-log-likelihood objective function using the block coordinate-descend iterations and the alternating direction method of multipliers. We analyze the convergence of the proposed algorithm theoretically and perform simulations with real hyperspectral image data sets to evaluate its performance. The simulation results corroborate the efficacy of the proposed algorithm in mitigating the adverse effects of perturbation in the endmembers. [Termes IGN] vision par ordinateurRésumé : (auteur) In this paper, we present a new fast and robust method for structure from motion (SfM) for data sets potentially comprising thousands of ordered or unordered images. Our work focuses on the two most time-consuming procedures: (a) image matching and (b) pose estimation. For image matching, a new method employing a random k-d forest is proposed to quickly obtain pairs of overlapping images from an unordered set. After that, image matching and the estimation of relative orientation parameters are performed only for pairs found to be very likely to overlap. For pose estimation, we use a two-stage global approach, separating the determination of rotation matrices and translation parameters; the latter are computed simultaneously using a new method. In order to cope with outliers in the relative orientations, which global approaches are particularly sensitive to, we present a new constraint based on triplet loop closure errors of rotation and translation. Finally, a robust bundle adjustment is carried out to refine the image orientation parameters. We demonstrate the potential and limitations of our pipeline using various real-world datasets including ordered image data acquired from UAV (unmanned aerial vehicle) and other platforms as well as unordered data from the internet. The experiments show that our work performs better than comparable state-of-the-art SfM systems in terms of run time, while we achieve a similar accuracy and robustness.
