[Termes IGN] image satelliteRésumé : (auteur) Nine French public institutions involved in Earth Observation, environmental studies and scientific research (CEA, CNES, Cirad, CNRS, IGN, INRA, IRD, Irstea and Météo-France), have launched in 2012 the Theia Land Data Centre, pooling their expertise and resources to make satellite data available to the environmental research community and to public policy actors. The Theia primary mission is (i) to build a national space data infrastructure able to produce value-added space data over land and provide services fitted to users’ needs, (ii) to support the sharing of experience and scientific knowledge on methodologies relevant to process and use space data for land thematic issues. To this end, Theia is working to produce data, products, methods and services linked to space observations of continental areas, from local (ecosystem and territory) to global scale, and make them available to the user community. It is backed up by a distributed spatial data infrastructure (SDI), and by scientific expertise hubs in various regions. The SDI links Montpellier (GEOSUD at Maison de la Télédétection) and Toulouse (CNES supported by the CESBIO laboratory, and IGN). The SDI provides already through its portal (www.theia-land.fr) a number of satellite products : yearly coverages at high resolution over the French territory with Spot and Rapid Eye, results from the Take 5 – Spot 4 experiment over 45 sites wordwide from February to June 2013 to simulate Sentinel-2 imagery, time series of orthorectified, atmospherically corrected Landsat data over France. Much more is to come : a first batch of 100 000 images over areas worldwide from the Spot World Heritage programme, provided free of charge for non commercial users, time series of river and lakes height worldwide, atmospherically corrected and monthly composites of Sentinel-2 data over an area equivalent to that of Europe, a new climate record of vegetal variables at global scale with AVHRR, and others. The organisation of science expertise hubs at national level has been initiated. A number of science teams have been created with the goal to prepare processing lines of value added satellite products, in particular from the Sentinel satellites, such as land cover, watered areas, snow areas, imperviousness areas, albedo, vegetal variables at decametric scale, water quality and height, and others. [Termes IGN] modélisation 3DRésumé : (Auteur) Light detection and ranging (LiDAR) technology has been extensively used for estimating forest attributes. Although high-spatial-density LiDAR data can be used to accurately derive attributes at single tree level, low-density LiDAR data are usually acquired for reducing the cost. However, a low density strongly affects the estimation accuracy due to the underestimation of the tree top and the possible loss of crowns that are not hit by any LiDAR point. In this paper, we propose a 3-D model-based approach to the estimation of the tree top height based on the fusion between low-density LiDAR data and high-resolution optical images. In the proposed approach, the integration of the two remotely sensed data sources is first exploited to accurately detect and delineate the single tree crowns. Then, the LiDAR vertical measures are associated to those crowns hit by at least one LiDAR point and used together with the radius of the crown and the tree apex location derived from the optical image for reconstructing the tree top height by a properly defined parametric model. For the remaining crowns detected only in the optical image, we reconstruct the tree top height by proposing a k-nearest neighbor trees technique that estimates the height of the missed trees as the average of the k reconstructed height values of the trees having most similar crown properties. The proposed technique has been tested on a coniferous forest located in the Italian Alps. The experimental results confirmed the effectiveness of the proposed method. [Termes IGN] Rajasthan (Inde ; état)Résumé : (Auteur) Topographic corrections of synthetic aperture radar (SAR) images over hilly regions are vital for retrieval of correct backscatter values associated with natural targets. The coarse resolution external digital elevation models (DEM) available for topographic corrections of high resolution SAR images often result into degradation of spatial resolution or improper estimation of backscatter values in SAR images. Also, many a times the external DEMs do not spatially co-register well with the SAR data. The present study showcases the methodology and results of topographic correction of ALOS-PALSAR image using high resolution DEM generated from the same data. High resolution DEMs of Jaipur region, India were generated using multiple pair SAR images acquired from ALOS-PALSAR using interferometric (InSAR) techniques. The DEMs were validated using differential global positioning system measured elevation values as ground control points and were compared with photogrammetric DEM (advanced spaceborne thermal emission and reflection radiometer – ASTER) and SRTM (Shuttle Radar Topography Mission) DEM. It was observed that ALOS-PALSAR images with optimum baseline parameters produced high resolution DEM with better height accuracy. Finally, the validated DEM was used for topographic correction of ALOS-PALSAR images of the same region and were found to produce better result as compared with ASTER and SRTM-DEM. [Vedettes matières IGN] Inventaire forestierRésumé : (auteur) Over the past decades it has been shown that remotely sensed auxiliary data have a potential to increase the precision of key estimators in sample-based forest surveys. This thesis was motivated by the increasing availability of remotely sensed data, and the objectives were to investigate how this type of auxiliary data can be used for improving both the design and the estimators in sample-based surveys. Two different modes of inference were studied: model-based inference and design-based inference. Empirical data for the studies were acquired from a boreal forest area in the Kuortane region of western Finland. The data comprised a combination of auxiliary information derived from airborne LiDAR and Landsat data, and field sample plot data collected using a modification of the 10th Finnish National Forest Inventory. The studied forest attribute was growing stock volume.
The results of this thesis are important for the development of forest inventories to meet the requirements which stem from an increasing number of international commitments and agreements related to forests.Numéro de notice : 14978 Affiliation des auteurs : non IGN Thématique : FORET Nature : Thèse étrangère Note de thèse : PhD : Forest sciences : University of Helsinki : 2015 En ligne : Over the past decades it has been shown that remotely sensed auxiliary data have [...] Format de la ressource électronique : URL Permalink : https://documentation.ensg.eu/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=78366

However, it has drift problem if none global optimization is used. We proposed a geo-referenced traffic sign based localization method, which integrated the constraints of 3D traffic signs with local bundle adjustment to reduce the drift. Comparing to global bundle adjustment, Local Bundle Adjustment(LBA) has low computational cost but suffers the drift problem for large scale localization because of the random error accumulation. We reduced the drift by means of the constraints from geo-referenced traffic signs for bundle adjustment process. The original LBA model was extended for the constraints and the traffic signs were detected in images and matched with 3D landmark database automatically. From the experiments of simulated and real images, our approach can reduce the drift and have better locating results than none-constraint LBA based localization method.
