[Termes IGN] utilisation du solRésumé : (Auteur) There are billions of federal computer records that relate to the millions of acres of “public lands” in the United States. These records are administered by the U.S. Bureau of Land Management (BLM). In the late 1990s, a publicly funded effort was undertaken to develop a truly modern GIS, in order to help manage the extensive land holdings and data records in the U.S. It is called the National Integrated Land System, or NILS for short. This system is now accessible to the public for on-line searching, viewing, and eventual downloading of selected records. It also can be used to generate custom maps of selected lands. The following article describes NILS in mostly general terms. More detailed papers and articles can be found on the BLM website at www.blm.gov/nils/. [Termes IGN] temps réelRésumé : (Auteur) In the late 1980s, the French Centre national d'études spatiales' (CNES), in conjunction with the Institut géographique national' (IGN) and the Groupe de recherche en géodésie spatiale' (GRGS) developed a new geodetic tracking system called DORIS for precise orbit determination of low Earth orbiting satellites for oceanographic missions. Since then, the number of applications has increased, leading recently to the creation of an International DORIS Service (IDS), making it a part of the Global Geodetic Observation System (GGOS) currently under development within the International Association of Geodesy (IAG). The goal of this paper is to present the current applications of the DORIS system for precise orbit determination as well as for geodesy, geophysics, Earth rotation or atmospheric sciences. Current accuracies are discussed as well as already planned improvements. In particular, recent improvements in on-board real time orbit showing 5-cm radial agreement with post-processed orbits are discussed. In addition, when using a 5-satellite constellation, 1-cm precision is achievable for station position as well as sub milli-arcsecond precision for polar motion. [Termes IGN] phase GNSSRésumé : (auteur) In a cooperation between the Astronomical Institute, University of Bern (AIUB), the Geodetic Observatory Pecný (GOPE), and the Institut Géographique National (IGN), DORIS data analysis capabilities were implemented into a development version of the Bernese GPS software. The DORIS Doppler observables are reformulated such that they are similar to global navigation satellite system (GNSS) carrier-phase observations, allowing the use of the same observation models and algorithms as for GNSS carrier-phase data analysis with only minor software modifications. As such, the same algorithms may be used to process DORIS carrier-phase observations. First results from the analysis of 3 weeks of DORIS data (September 2004, five DORIS-equipped satellites) at GOPE are promising and are presented here. They include the comparison of station coordinates with coordinate estimates derived by the Laboratoire d’Etudes en Géophysique et Océanographie Spatiale/Collecte Localisation Satellites analysis centre (LCA) and the Institut Géographique National/Jet Propulsion Laboratory (IGN/JPL), and the comparison of Earth orientation parameters (EOPs) with the International Earth Rotation and Reference Frames Service (IERS) C04 model. The modified Bernese results are of a slightly lower, but comparable, quality than corresponding solutions routinely computed within the IDS (International DORIS Service). The weekly coordinate repeatability RMS is of the order of 2–3 cm for each 3D station coordinate. Comparison with corresponding estimates of station coordinates from current IDS analysis centers demonstrates similar precision. Daily pole component estimates show a mean difference from IERS-C04 of 0.6 mas in X p and − 0.5 mas in Y p and a RMS of 0.8 mas in X p and 0.9 mas in Y p (mean removed). An automatic analysis procedure is under development at GOPE, and routine DORIS data processing will be implemented in the near future.
