[Termes IGN] zone urbaineRésumé : (auteur) Dynamics of ecosystem service value (ESV) of various wetlands has been assessed by researchers globally. But the impact of spatio-temporal variation of landscape metrics on ESV in the lower Gangetic plains has not been examined, fully. The present work has established linkages between landscape metrics and ESV in Kolkata urban agglomeration using support vector machine and multivariate regression analysis. Result indicates that wetland area has been reduced by 5.26%, 13.67% and 9.03% during the periods 1990–2000, 2000–2010 and 2010–2020, respectively and the ESV contributed by wetlands has been decreased by $131428, $323674 and $184649, respectively during the same period at an annual rate of 0.85%. Number of patches, mean patch area and edge density are the main determinants of wetland fragmentation and decreased by 44.12%, 10.23% and 8.65%, respectively during the last three decades. A wetland restoration strategy based on dynamic restoration, reactive restoration and wetland creation for the study area has been formulated, which can guide for sustainable management of wetland resources in Kolkata urban agglomeration. [Termes IGN] risque naturelRésumé : (auteur) Floods have received global significance in contemporary times due to their destructive behavior, which may wreak tremendous ruin on infrastructure and civilization. The present research employed an integration of the Geographic information system (GIS) and Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) method for identifying the flood susceptibility zonation (FSZ), flood vulnerability zonation (FVZ), and flood risk zonation (FRZ) of the humid subtropical Uttar Dinajpur district in India. The study combined a large number of thematic layers (N = 12 for FSZ and N = 9 for FVZ) to achieve reliable accuracy and included the multicollinearity analysis of these variables to overcome the issues related to highly correlated variables. According to the findings, 27.04, 15.62, and 4.59% of the area were classified as medium, high, and very high FRZ, respectively. The ROC-AUC, MAE, MSE, and RMSE of the model exhibited a good prediction accuracy of 0.73, 0.15, 0.16, and 0.21, respectively. The performance of the AHP model has been evaluated using sensitivity analyses. It also highly recommends that persistent improvement in this subject, such as sensitivity studies on modifying criteria thresholds, changing the relative significance of criteria, and changing the desired matrix, will permit GIS and MCDA to be progressively adapted to real hazard-management issues. [Termes IGN] vulnérabilitéRésumé : (Auteur) The location of disaster management facilities is a challenging and multifaceted problem. The road networks, population distribution along the road networks, and disaster risk maps are the major components for management of this problem. This article aims to decide on the location of such facilities for flood hazards in a region. The methodology is based on a multi‐objective framework. Objective functions include edge importance indices under fair weather and elevation parameters of the edges. Multiple scenarios are simulated for varying levels of hazard, and the outputs are analyzed. Analyses are carried out for the individual percentage loss of road links. A case study has been presented for the Bankura District in West Bengal, India. The inferences drawn from the results identify the critical links over the road networks of the region. The study also indicates locations in the region for relief facility setups to enable best‐serving capabilities and provide safe shelters, even in the most adverse flood conditions. The article depicts the vulnerability status of the road networks of the region. Further, it identifies the locations for relief facility provisioning that bring out the best road utilization and the best‐serving capabilities within the flood‐affected area under different flood levels. [Termes IGN] photogrammétrie numériqueRésumé : (Auteur) Temporal analysis of Landsat-TM imageries reveals a saturated state of Kolkata (Calcutta) Metropolitan Area. However, the city has witnessed accelerated growth in real estate construction in recent past. This study applies digital photogrammetry to quantify the changes in Kolkata’s skyline. Recently, released SRTM DEM of 1 Arc Second and a digital surface model derived from WorldView-1 stereo images were used to account for the past and recent surface heights, respectively. Consequently, this paper examines whether the sustained addition in housing capacity has been necessarily driven by a growth in the urban population/number of households. Results show that 40.31% of the area experienced vertical growth, majorly by replacing older dwellings with taller apartment blocks. Further analysis reveals that part of these newly added residences has remained unoccupied as they were purchased by non-resident Indians for using as a second home or was never sold due to recent economic slowdown. [Termes IGN] seuillage d'imageRésumé : (Auteur) Automatic change detection of land cover features using high-resolution satellite images, is a challenging problem in the field of intelligent remote sensing data interpretation, and is becoming more and more effective for its applications viz. urban planning and monitoring, disaster assessment etc. In the present study, a change in detection approach based on the image morphology that analyses change in the local image grids is proposed. In this approach, edges from both the images are extracted and grid wise comparison is made by probabilistic thresholding and power spectral density analysis for identifying change area. One of the advantages of the proposed methodology is that the temporal images used in the change analysis need not be radiometrically corrected as analysis is based on edge extractions. The grid-based analysis further reduces the error, which might have been introduced by image mis-registration. The proposed methodology is validated by finding the temporal changes in the linear land cover features in parts of Kolkata city, India using three different image data-sets from LISS IV, Cartosat-1 and Google earth having varied spatial resolutions of 5.8 m, 2.5 m and about 1 m, respectively. The overall accuracy in identifying changes is found to be 64.82, 73.86 and 80.93% for LISS IV, Cartosat-1 and Google earth data-set, respectively.
