[Termes IGN] simulation PleiadesRésumé : (Auteur) Among all the issues involved in Geographic Information Science, automating the update of 2D building databases is a crucial and challenging issue. Such an update usually starts out with a manual change detection process. The main goal of this paper is to present a new method to automate the detection of changes in a 2D building database, starting from satellite images. The workflow of our approach is divided into 2 phases. Primitives, extracted from multiple images or from a correlation Digital Surface Model (DSM), are firstly collected for each building and matched with primitives derived from the existing database to achieve a final decision about acceptance or rejection. A specific algorithm, based on the DSM and a computed Digital Terrain Model (DTM), is subsequently used to extract new buildings. The method is here introduced and tested in two test areas, very different regarding the land use and topography. The out-comes of the method are assessed and show the good performance of our system, especially in terms of completeness, robustness and transferability. [Termes IGN] protection de la vie privéeRésumé : (Auteur) In the last two years, web-based applications using street-level images have been developing fast. In that context, privacy preservation is an unavoidable issue. We present in this paper a multi-boosting based approach to detect pedestrians in high resolution panoramics in order to blur their faces. This task is quite complex since these features vary in size, shape, color, and often are partially occluded, sometimes behind windows or inside cars, etc. Our strategy is thus based on the combination of two existing boosting algorithms detecting faces and bodies with a skin tone detection algorithm we developed. The results are quite encouraging for such an unconstrained data: 86:2% of true positives and an average of 2 false positive detections per image (2.1 MPixels). This combination solution provides much more robust results than each detection algorithm performed independently. [Termes IGN] TautavelRésumé : (Auteur) We are currently developing a vision-based system aiming at automatically generating in situ ultra-high resolution mosaics in previously unknown, complex and unstructured underground environments. Nowadays, image stitching algorithms present several limitations when dealing with unstructured environments. The most important to our concern is the ability to deal with feature-less areas. In this paper we describe an automatic on line Gigapixel mosaicing system capable to deal with the absence of reliably detectable and trackable features. The input of our algorithm is a pose-annotated sequence of high-resolution images acquired from a common optical center by a calibrated pantilt motorized digital camera unit. The proposed mosaïcing system is powered by a global-to-local pairwise image alignment which recovers the rotations relating the overlapping images in a coarse-to-fine approach. The local motion procedure outputs a list of locally matched anonymous features which are later injected in a bundle adjustment engine for multi-view fine alignment. The proposed algorithm combines the state of the art mosaicing techniques in a complementary and efficient fashion providing an environment-independent solution for the image mosaicing task. The final output of the algorithm is a Gigapixel spherical mosaic rendering. Tests on real data acquired in a prehistorical cave (Tautavel Cave, France) illustrate mosaicing examples obtained from several hundreds of high-resolution images. [Termes IGN] reconstruction 3D du bâtiRésumé : (Auteur) We describe a model driven approach for extracting simple 3D polyhedral building models from aerial images. The novelty of the approach lies in the use of featureless and direct optimization based on image rawbrightness. The 3D polyhedral model is estimated using a stochastic and genetic optimizer that minimizes a global dissimilarity measure. The proposed approach gives more accurate 3D reconstruction than feature-based approaches since it does not involve intermediate noisy data (e.g., the 3D points of a noisy Digital Elevation Maps). We provide experiments and evaluations of performance. Experimental results show the feasibility and robustness of the proposed approach.
