[Termes IGN] World Geodetic System 1984Résumé : (auteur) The Earth’s surface is under permanent alteration with the area of some nations growing or shrinking due to natural or man-made processes, for example sea level change. Here, based on the NUVEL 1A model, we forecast (in 10, 25, and 50 years) the changes in area for countries that are located on the border of the major tectonic plates. In the analysis we identify countries that are projected to gain or lose land due to the tectonic plate movement only. Over the next 50 years, the global balance of area gains (0.4 km2) and losses (12.7 km2) is negative. Thus, due to the movements of lithospheric plates, the land surface of the Earth will decrease by 12 km2 in 50 years. Overall, the changes are not that spectacular, as in the case of changes in sea/water levels, but in some smaller countries, projected losses exceed a few thousand square metres a year, e.g., in Nepal the losses exceed 10,000 m2 year−1. Methodologically, this paper finds itself between metric analysis and essay, trying to provoke useful academic discussion and incite educators’ interests to illustrate to students the tectonic movement and its force. Limitations of the used model have been discussed in the methodology section. [Vedettes matières IGN] Traitement de données GNSSRésumé : (auteur) Long term GNSS observations provided by networks of the continuously operating reference stations (CORS) allow for determination of the global and local tectonic plate movements and seasonal variations. In recent years, PPP (Precise Point Positioning) technique has become increasingly popular and most likely in the future will replace relative positioning with CORS stations. In this paper, we discuss the difference of the velocity and seasonal component estimates of 25 Latvian CORS stations on the basis of daily PPP solutions from the Nevada Geodetic Laboratory and double-difference solutions from the Institute of Geodesy and Geoinformatics of the University of Latvia. Time series of each coordinate component for 9-year time period were determined by the usage of the Tsview software and seasonal existence of linear, annual, semi-annual factors and their uncertainties were determined. Breaks (e. g., antenna and receiver changes) were also taken into account. We then assessed the noise characteristics of these time series with the use of overlapping Hadamard variance (OHVAR). The result shows that OHVAR is computationally cheap, and the dominating power-law noise, including flicker and random walk. However Hadamard deviation of the PPP and double-difference solutions scatters differently for a whole year averaging time due to the different GNSS data strategies. [Termes IGN] texture d'imageRésumé : (Auteur) This paper describes the means of supporting virtual reconstruction of wooden and masonry buildings with the use of thermal infrared images. Not all remaining architectural heritage can be physically preserved. War, climate change and rapidly growing cities have caused damage and degradation to valuable historical buildings. In order to preserve them virtually, various methods of 3D modelling have been employed. This paper presents information on how to create a full 3D inventory of a building’s exterior. This includes a 3D thermal model of the building, merging thermal camera data with a spatial model, which aids the reconstruction of previous stages of a building’s existence. The authors argue that in cases when it is impossible to force heat transfer from inside the structure (via man‐made heating), 24 hours of observations using only solar heating can be sufficient to find heat bridges and other thermal anomalies that can be used for virtual reconstruction. [Vedettes matières IGN] Traitement de données GNSSRésumé : (auteur) Daily and weekly coordinates solutions of GNSS permanent stations operating within EPN network allows to track long-term changes of coordinates caused e.g. by the local and global movements of tectonic plates. They are therefore an excellent tool for testing stability and repeatability of stations position. The article presents an analysis of coordinates changes of selected reference stations based on weekly EPN solutions. In addition the author proposes parameters of approximating function by assuming an existence of periodic, annually repeatable trend. The author performed also an independent fitting function for two different periods of two ITRF frames of routine time analysis and reprocessing.
