In order to get information that will be useful for users (travelers, network operator or land developer), it is necessary to understand how a transportation network reacts to different stimuli. There are several problems related to the analysis of a transportation system: firstly combinatorial problems arise as mathematical indicators based on all shortest paths on the network, secondly data storage and mining problems and finally problems to visualize these data. This paper introduces new methods for network exploration aiming at solving these problems. To answer to these different issues, this paper proposes software architecture dedicated to the structural exploration of a transportation network. Those papers went through a th competitive review process. The 13 AGILE conference call for full papers of original and unpublished fundamental scientific research resulted in 54 submissions, of which 21 were accepted for publication in this volume (acceptance rate of 39%). Published in the Springer Lecture Notes in Geoinformation and Carthography, this book is associated to the 13 AGILE Conference on Geographic Information Science, held in 2010 in Guimarães, Portugal, under the title “Geospatial Thinking”. The efficient use of geospatial information and related technologies assumes the knowledge of concepts that are fundamental components of Geospatial Thinking, which is built on reasoning processes, spatial conc- tualizations, and representation methods. Geospatial Thinking is associated with a set of cognitive skills consisting of several forms of knowledge and cognitive operators used to transform, combine or, in any other way, act on that same knowledge. The scientific papers published in this volume cover an important set of topics within Geoinformation Science. An important notion both to improve quality during production, and to help in providing quality metadata for users is that of specifications. They are the most detailed available source of knowledge about geographic databases content (Abadie, 2009). The rest of this paper will discuss important definitions and related work concerning quality in User Generated Content (UGC) and user generated spatial content UGSC. Then, an approach to qualify UGSC is proposed, based on specifications. Finally, our conclusions and perspectives are presented. The simulation of such a process requires several spatial analysis tools and specific knowledge on the types of objects accounting for the increased urban density. In this paper, only buildings creation is considered. The method proposed hereby takes into account the existing spatial organisation of an urban block in order to respect it while creating new buildings.
