Primarily designed for military work and integration with other Intergraph products, namely the new GeoMedia Image Scout product, GeoMedia Image provides more robust raster and vector integration from within GeoMedia Professional for civilian users as well. Several new features and additions are presented at ArcGIS 9.0, which enable new approaches for the development, handling and distribution of geographical information. These also provide increased capabilities for the construction of spatial related applications. The family of ArcGIS products consists of Desktop GIS, Server GIS, Embedded GIS and Mobile GIS. In this review, we look at the ArcView 9.0 product - within the Desktop GIS family. We also include a review of the new ArcGIS 3D Analyst to provide an understanding of the extended 2-D and 3-D visualization and representation capabilities. For this review we have tailored our work toward first time users because the product has so many new features for experienced users also. The individual components in LPS 8.7 include LPS Core, LPS ATE (Automatic Terrain Extraction), LPS Terrain Editor, Stereo Analyst for ERDAS IMAGINE, Stereo Analyst for ArcGIS and LPS PR0600. The product can be used to geo-reference, ortho-rectify, analyse and extract data from imagery. Since LPS 8.7 is tightly coupled to ERDAS IMAGINE V8.7 which is a full featured, robust image analysis software for high quality and professionat image analysis, users gain the advantages of image analysis coupled to image orientation 1 data extraction all within one platform. The following is our review of the software.
