The proposed system consists of two main phases: a pre-negotiation phase and an automated negotiation phase. The pre-negotiation phase involves interaction between human actors and intelligent software agents in order to elicit the actors’ social preferences. The agents employ social value orientation theory, which is rooted in social psychology, in order to model actors’ social preferences. The automated negotiation phase involves negotiation among autonomous software agents, the aim being to achieve consensus about the spatial problem on behalf of the relevant actors and using the information obtained.
This study employs a computationally effective Bayesian learning technique, along with social value orientation theory, to design socially rational intelligent agents who work on behalf of real actors. The proposed system is applied to a real world urban land use planning case study. Human actors participate in a pre-negotiation phase, and their social preferences are elicited by intelligent software agents through a number of interactions. Then, software agents come together to engage in an automated negotiation phase and eventually reach an agreement on the spatial configuration of urban land uses on behalf of the actors. The results of the study show that the proposed system is effective at performing an automated negotiation, plus that the final plan – which is the output of the automated negotiation – produces higher social utility and better spatial land use configurations for the agents.Numéro de notice : A2017-240 Affiliation des auteurs : non IGN Thématique : GEOMATIQUE/URBANISME Nature : Article nature-HAL : ArtAvecCL-RevueIntern DOI : 10.1080/13658816.2016.1263306 En ligne : http://dx.doi.org/10.1080/13658816.2016.1263306 Format de la ressource électronique : URL article Permalink : https://documentation.ensg.eu/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=85175

[Termes IGN] transport urbainRésumé : (auteur) Model validation is a significant issue for the modelling of social network-based transportation models because of the many interacting components (the individuals, the environment, and now the network) in the model.
In this paper we focus on a sensitivity analysis for such a model, which is part of a larger validation approach known as process validation. This approach investigates both the structure and behaviour of the model, to evaluate whether the model can be used for prediction.
The paper draws on a novel set of experiments with an agent-based model which was developed to explore the effects of social networks on activity and travel behaviour. Several versions of the model were created, beginning with a single day model with no interaction, and then adding in multi-day runs with interactions, in order to demonstrate the validation process.
The paper argues that testing the model at different levels of complexity increases confidence in the model and makes it easier to locate components or functionality that require improvement. It concludes by suggesting that this approach to sensitivity testing should be adopted for validation of complex transportation models.

[Termes IGN] simulation dynamiqueRésumé : (Auteur) The simultaneous implementation of daily activity-travel schedules of individuals in a given spatial environment generally gives rise to time- and location-varying congestion levels, which affect the conditions for subsequent activity and travel choices. Although such dynamics are commonly recognized, current activity-based models typically ignore the adaptive behaviour of individuals. In this article, we propose an agent-based simulation system that allows one to simulate, in addition to activity-scheduling behaviour, also the execution of schedules in space and time. Congestion levels at specific times and places emerge in the system and may lead to discrepancies between scheduled and actual activity and travel times. Agents respond to such unforeseen events by reconsidering an existing schedule (within-day re-planning) and by adapting their expectations about traffic conditions for subsequent days (learning). The system is illustrated using the activity-travel diary data collected in the Eindhoven region, the Netherlands, to better understand the choice of urban parks in the study area. We discuss the merits of the system for transport and spatial planning and identify avenues for future research. [Termes IGN] trajet (mobilité)Résumé : (Auteur) Least-costs path finding methods belong to the standard toolkit of geographical information science and allow one to assign trips with known origin and destination to a transport network. An extension of the network representation is proposed that allows one to model complete trip chains (tours) that may involve multiple transport modes and multiple activities, as a least-cost path through the network. The extension is based on the notion that link costs may change as a consequence of activity and vehicle choices during the tour. The extended network or supernetwork contains as many copies of the network as there are possible activity-vehicle states and additional state transition links to interconnect them. In this way, not only the generalized link cost function, but also the start and end points of a path can be defined state dependently. A leastcost path through a multistate network defines an optimal sequence of travelling, transferring, parking, conducting activities and dropping off products of activities. An application shows how a multistate network can be constructed and used to assess the impacts of network design variables on path choice.
