[Termes IGN] traitement du langage naturelRésumé : (auteur) Discourse may contain both named and nominal entities. Most common nouns or nominal mentions in natural language do not have a single, simple meaning but rather a number of related meanings. This form of ambiguity led to the development of a task in natural language processing known as Word Sense Disambiguation. Recognition and categorisation of named and nominal entities is an essential step for Word Sense Disambiguation methods. Up to now, named entity recognition and categorisation systems mainly focused on the annotation, categorisation and identification of named entities. This paper focuses on the annotation and the identification of spatial nominal entities. We explore the combination of Transfer Learning principle and supervised learning algorithms, in order to build a system to detect spatial nominal entities. For this purpose, different supervised learning algorithms are evaluated with three different context sizes on two manually annotated datasets built from Wikipedia articles and hiking description texts. The studied algorithms have been selected for one or more of their specific properties potentially useful in solving our problem. The results of the first phase of experiments reveal that the selected algorithms have similar performances in terms of ability to detect spatial nominal entities. The study also confirms the importance of the size of the window to describe the context, when word-embedding principle is used to represent the semantics of each word. [Termes IGN] zone semi-arideRésumé : (auteur) The sensitivity of the backscattering coefficient and the interferometric coherence to surface soil moisture changes and wheat crops growth was analyzed using the time series derived from C-band Sentinel-1. Results show that the interferometric coherence is sensitive to wheat biomass while the backscatter intensity is more influenced by the surface soil moisture (SSM) changes. A new method to retrieve SSM combining the interferometric coherence and C-band backscattering coefficient acquired by Sentinel-1 is tested over two irrigated wheat plots during two growth seasons around Marrakech city (center of Morocco). It is shown that SSM can be estimated with a reasonable accuracy from sowing to harvest (R=0.65; RMSE =0.07m3/m3; bias =0.01m3/m3). These results enhance the potentialities of Sentinel1 data for SSM retrieval even in the presence of a dense canopy. [Termes IGN] zone semi-arideRésumé : (auteur) This work aims to investigate the sensitivity of the diurnal differences of radar backscatter to diurnal changes in the vegetation water content (VWC). Sentinel-1 backscattering coefficient differences between two orbits (morning and evening) are analyzed over an irrigated and voluntarily stressed wheat field. A physical model of backscatter prediction is evaluated for wheat and used to examine the sensitivity of radar differences to the VWC for a range of surface soil moisture and biomass conditions. Results highlight the potential of C-band diurnal differences for the monitoring the water stress over agricultural canopies. [Vedettes matières IGN] GéovisualisationRésumé : (auteur) We present our contribution to the geovisualization and visual analysis of hydraulic simulation data, based on an interdisciplinary research work undertaken by researchers in geographic information sciences and in hydraulics. The positive feedback loop between researchers favored the proposal of visualization tools enabling visual reasoning on hydraulic simulated data so as to infer knowledge on the simulation model. We interactively explore and design 2D multi-scale styles to render hydraulic simulated data, in order to support the identification over large simulation domains of possible local inconsistencies related to input simulation data, simulation parameters or simulation workflow. Models have been implemented into QGIS and are reusable for other input data and territories. [Termes IGN] série temporelleRésumé : (auteur) The increasing accessibility and precision of Earth observation satellite data offers considerable opportunities for industrial and state actors alike. This calls however for efficient methods able to process time series on a global scale. Building on recent work employing multi-headed self-attention mechanisms to classify remote sensing time sequences, we propose a modification of the Temporal Attention Encoderof Garnot et al.[5]. In our network, the channels of the temporal inputs are distributed among several compact attention heads operating in parallel. Each head extracts highly-specialized temporal features which arein turn concatenated into a single representation. Our approach outper-forms other state-of-the-art time series classification algorithms on an open-access satellite image dataset, while using significantly fewer parameters and with a reduced computational complexity.
