[Termes IGN] sorgho (céréale)Résumé : (Auteur) Hyperspectral imagery, which contains hundreds of spectral bands, has the potential to better describe the biological and chemical attributes on the plants than multispectral imagery and has been evaluated in this paper for the purpose of crop yield estimation. The spectrum of each pixel in a hyperspectral image is considered as a linear combinations of the spectra of the vegetation and the bare soil. Recently developed linear unmixing approaches are evaluated in this paper, which automatically extracts the spectra of the vegetation and bare soil from the images. The vegetation abundances are then computed based on the extracted spectra. In order to reduce the influences of this uncertainty and obtain a robust estimation results, the vegetation abundances extracted on two different dates on the same fields are then combined. The experiments are carried on the multidate hyperspectral images taken from two grain sorghum fields. The results show that the correlation coefficients between the vegetation abundances obtained by unsupervised linear unmixing approaches are as good as the results obtained by supervised methods, where the spectra of the vegetation and bare soil are measured in the laboratory. In addition, the combination of vegetation abundances extracted on different dates can improve the correlations (from 0.6 to 0.7). [Termes IGN] Rio Grande (fleuve)Résumé : (Auteur) This study evaluated and compared six image classifiers, including minimum distance (MD), Mahalanobis distance (MAHD), maximum likelihood (ML), spectral angle mapper (SAM), mixture tuned matched filtering (MTMF) and support vector machine (SVM), for detecting and mapping giant reed (Arundo donax L.), an invasive weed that presents a severe threat to agroecosystems throughout the southern US and northern Mexico. Airborne hyperspectral imagery was collected from a giant reed-infested site along the US-Mexican portion of the Rio Grande in 2009 and 2010. The imagery was transformed with minimum noise fraction (MFN) and the six classifiers were applied to the 30-band MNF imagery for each year. Accuracy assessment showed that SVM and ML generally performed better than the other four classifiers for overall classification and for distinguishing giant reed in both years. These results indicate that airborne hyperspectral imagery in conjunction with SVM and ML classification techniques is effective for detecting giant reed. [Termes IGN] Web Map ServiceRésumé : (Auteur) The increased popularity of standards for geospatial interoperability has led to an increasing number of geospatial Web services (GWSs), such as Web Map Services (WMSs), becoming publicly available on the Internet. However, finding the services in a quick and precise fashion is still a challenge. Traditional methods collect the services through centralized registries, where services can be manually registered. But the metadata of the registered services cannot be updated timely. This paper addresses the above challenges by developing an effective crawler to discover and update the services in (1) proposing an accumulated term frequency (ATF)-based conditional probability model for prioritized crawling, (2) utilizing concurrent multi-threading technique, and (3) adopting an automatic mechanism to update the metadata of identified services. Experiments show that the proposed crawler achieves good performance in both crawling efficiency and results' coverage/liveliness. In addition, an interesting finding regarding the distribution pattern of WMSs is discussed. We expect this research to contribute to automatic GWS discovery over the large-scale and dynamic World Wide Web and the promotion of operational interoperable distributed geospatial services. [Termes IGN] Texas (Etats-Unis)Résumé : (Auteur) Silverleaf sunflower (Helianthus argophyllus, Torr and Gray) is an annual weed found on rangelands in south and southeast Texas. Colour-infrared aerial photography and computer image analysis techniques were evaluated for detecting and mapping silverleaf sunflower infestations on a south Texas rangeland area. Supervised and unsupervised image analysis classification techniques were used to classify photographs from two study sites. Supervised classification of the two photographs showed that silverleaf sunflower had mean producer's and user's accuracies of 95.2% and 91.3%, respectively. Unsupervised classification of the two photographs had mean producer's and user's accuracies for silverleaf sunflower of 65.7% and 80.1%, respectively. These results indicate that the supervised technique is superior to the unsupervised technique for mapping silverleaf sunflower infestations using colour-infrared aerial photos.
