[Termes IGN] mise à jour de base de donnéesRésumé : (Auteur) In the past few years, the production of 2D topographic databases has been completed in most industrialised countries. Presently, most efforts in the National Mapping and Cadastral Agencies (NMCAs) are devoted to the update of such databases. Because the update process is generally carried out manually by visual inspection of orthophotos, it is time-consuming and expensive. The development of semi-automatic systems is, thus, of high interest for NMCAs. The current deficits in automation and the lack of expertise within NMCAs have driven the EuroSDR (European Spatial Data Research - http://www.eurosdr.net) to launch a project in this topic. The aim of the project "Detection of unregistered buildings for updating 2D databases" is to evaluate the feasibility of semi-automatically detecting changes in a 2D building vector database from optical imagery or LIDAR. Three specific sub-topics are investigated in detail: firstly, the impact of methodology; secondly, the impact of the type and spatial resolution of input data; lastly, the impact of the complexity of the scene, especially with respect to topography and land use. A comparison of algorithms representative of the current state-of-the-art in the field of change detection is performed. In this report, we describe the three test areas used in the project, the methodology used for assessing and comparing the methods, and the results that have been obtained with the four different approaches. The results are thoroughly analysed and a discussion enables to bring out conclusions and promising directions to follow for building an optimal operational system in the future. [Termes IGN] vision par ordinateurRésumé : (Auteur) A simple and cheap tool has been developed for measuring shards of old ceramics, found in archaeological yards. It is based on a digital camera, and various photogrammetric and computer vision freeware completed by home-made software developments. The paper presents the equipment used for the acquisition of the images, and the processing software for the various steps. This software is mainly based on algorithms originating from computer vision community, and from more classical photogrammetry. Some intermediate results are presented, the final output of the present work being a very dense cloud of points describing the geometry of the surface of the shard, that may be post processed by many off-the-shelf drawing commercial software, depending on the needs of the archaeologists. [Termes IGN] rocherRésumé : (Auteur) From now on, the French National Mapping Agency (IGN France) is set up with the BD TOPO®. This is a topographic vector database that covers the whole national territory. IGN has decided to product base maps at 1:25k and 1:50k from this database. On topographic mountain maps, rocks areas are among the most difficult map elements to represent, dealing with digital cartography. In the past, they were drawn manually by experienced cartographers, using graphic means and working with aerial photographs. Nowadays, we need to focus on two points with a digital approach. The first one is the detection and an automated classification of concerned areas. The next one is the development of an adapted cartographic representation of rocks and screes areas. This article presents the first results on these problems. As far as possible, we aim at having automated high mountain cartography with lower production costs. Also, we would like it to be as expressive as it was in previous maps. This is to keep the same cartographic quality of the current base map at 1:25k and 1:50k.
