[Termes IGN] zone sinistréeRésumé : (auteur) Forest fire burnt area estimation using Normalized Burn Ratio at regional level helps in understanding the pattern of the frequency and severity of forest fires. In this study, burnt area is estimated for all the thirteen districts of Indian state Uttarakhand for last six years from 2016 to 2021 using Sentinel 2A and 2B datasets. The spatial and temporal pattern of the burnt area was analyzed by incorporating different parameters such as meteorological parameters like land surface temperature, rainfall; edaphic parameter like surface soil moisture and vegetation parameters like Normalized Difference Vegetation Index & Enhanced Vegetation Index. The estimated burnt area was statistically analyzed with respect to the parameters stated and the relationship among them was quantified. It was found that burnt area is positively correlated with the land surface temperature, while it showed negative correlation with the pre-fire precipitation, pre-fire NDVI & EVI and the surface soil moisture for 11 out of 13 districts. The district-wise forest fire burnt area assessment and analysis of its spatio-temporal pattern can be used in the preparedness and mitigation planning to prevent drastic ecological impacts of forest fires on the landscape. [Termes IGN] SIG participatifRésumé : (auteur) The parallel processing and distributed GIServices provide an efficient approach to address the geocomputation challenges in biodiversity modeling. Using the widely applied Spatial Biodiversity Model (SBM) as an illustration, this study demonstrates parallelization of the spatial landscape algorithms based on Message Passing Interface (MPI) in cluster computing. The geocomputation based on MPI is performed to characterize the spatial distribution of Biological Richness (BR) for Indian landscape using developed high-performance cluster computing-based model named as SBM-HPC. In performance analysis, the execution time is reduced by 56.42%–81.41% (or the speedups of 2.29–5.38) using the parallel and cluster computing environment. Also, the spatial landscape algorithms of the model are extended to integrate large-scale geodata from online map services archives using distributed GIServices. To validate BR map, the phytosociological data is collected using participatory GIS approach. Furthermore, regression analysis between derived BR map and Shannon-Wiener index (Hˈ) represents high correlation coefficient R2 values.
Highlights :
- Development of spatial biodiversity model using parallel computing on the cluster.
- Geocomputation of spatial landscape indices using large-scale geospatial datasets.
- Distributed GIService integration in model to compute distributed data archives.
- Prediction of biological richness pattern and validation using participatory GIS.
- Characterize correlations between biological richness and bioclimatic patterns.

[Termes IGN] Web Processing ServiceRésumé : (auteur) An online spatial biodiversity model (SBM) for optimized and automated spatial modelling and analysis of geospatial data is proposed, which is based on web processing service (WPS) and web service orchestration (WSO) in parallel computing environment. The developed model integrates distributed geospatial data in geoscientific processing workflow to compute the algorithms of spatial landscape indices over the web using free and open source software. A case study for Uttarakhand state of India demonstrates the model outputs such as spatial biodiversity disturbance index (SBDI) and spatial biological richness index (SBRI). In order to optimize and automate, an interactive web interface is developed using participatory GIS approaches for implementing fuzzy AHP. In addition, sensitivity analysis and geosimulation experiments are also performed under distributed GIS environment. Results suggest that parallel algorithms in SBM execute faster than sequential algorithms and validation of SBRI with biological diversity shows significant correlation by indicating high R2 values. [Termes IGN] service webRésumé : (Auteur) Advances in Metadata research have been instrumental in predictions and `fitness-of-use evaluation' for the effective Decision-making process. For the past two decades, the model has been developed to provide visual assistance for assessing the quality information in metadata and quantifying the degree of metadata population. Still, there is a need to develop a framework that can be generic to adopt all the standards available for Geospatial Metadata. The computational analysis of metadata for specific applications remains uncharted for investigations and studies. This work proposes a computational framework for Geospatial Metadata by integrating TopicMaps and Hypergraphs (HXTM) based on the elements and their dependency relationships. A purpose-built dataset extracted from schemas of various standardisation organisations and existing knowledge in the discipline is utilised to model the framework and thereby evaluate ranking strategies. Hypergraph-Helly Property based Weight-Assignment Algorithm (HHWA) have been proposed for HXTM framework to calculate Stable weights for Metadata Elements. Recursive use of Helly-property ensures predominant elements, while Rank Order Centroid (ROC) method is used to compute standard weights. A real corpus using case studies from FGDC's Standard for Geospatial Metadata, INSPIRE Metadata Standards, and ISRO Metadata Content Standard (NSDI 2.0) is used to validate the proposed framework. The observations show that the Information Gain (Entropy) of the proposed model along with the algorithm proves to be computationally smart for quantification purposes and visualises the strength of Metadata Elements for all applications. A prototype tool, `MetDEVViz- MetaData Editor, Validator &Visualization' is designed to exploit the benefits of the proposed algorithm for the case studies that acts as a web service to provide a user interface for editing, validating and visualizing metadata elements. [Termes IGN] web 2.0Résumé : (Auteur) The Web 2.0 technologies and standards enable web as a platform by allowing the user participation in web application. In the realization of Web 2.0, new knowledge and services are created by combining information and services from different sources which are known as `mashups'. The present study focused on spatial mashup solution for disaster management using open source GIS, mobile applications, web services in web 2.0, Geo-RDBMS and XML which are in the central of intelligent geo web services. The geo-web application is developed to generate the actionable GIS products at user end during disaster event by consuming various data and information services from web and central server system and also real time ground observation data collected through a mobile device. The technological solution developed in this study is successfully demonstrated for disaster management in the Assam State of India during the floods in 2010.
