However, even state-of-the-art algorithms have intrinsic limits and many errors exist in 3D reconstructions, requiring expensive manual corrections. A new approach is proposed in this paper for the automatic diagnosis of 3D building databases in urban areas. A novel error taxonomy which allows a subsequent high-level diagnosis is first proposed. Then, relevant raster and vector features are extracted from very high resolution multi-view images and Digital Surface Models so as that to retrieve such errors. In a supervised way, a set of functions is presented in order to take high-level decisions from these low-level features. Experiments on 355 buildings in an European dense city center with 10 cm airborne images demonstrate the high accuracy on error detection and show promising results. [Termes IGN] processus de hiérarchisation analytiqueRésumé : (auteur) Change detection is a main issue in various domains, and especially for remote sensing purposes. Indeed, plethora of geospatial images are available and can be used to update geographical databases. In this paper, we propose a classification-based method to detect changes between a database and a more recent image. It is based both on an efficient training point selection and a hierarchical decision process. This allows to take into account the intrinsic heterogeneity of the objects and themes composing a database while limiting false detection rates. The reliability of the designed framework method is first assessed on simulated data, and then successfully applied on very high resolution satellite images and two land-cover databases. The chapter describes a model that represents waveforms acquired with LIDAR systems using a sum of parametric functions where the most suited function is chosen, from a given library, for each mode of the LIDAR waveform. It proposes a method based on marked point processes that is detailed in [MAL 10]. The chapter presents an algorithm for reconstructing buildings in 3D. [Termes IGN] semis de pointsRésumé : (Auteur) We present a novel and robust method for modeling cities from 3D-point data. Our algorithm provides a more complete description than existing approaches by reconstructing simultaneously buildings, trees and topologically complex grounds. A major contribution of our work is the original way of modeling buildings which guarantees a high generalization level while having semantized and compact representations. Geometric 3D-primitives such as planes, cylinders, spheres or cones describe regular roof sections, and are combined with mesh-patches that represent irregular roof components. The various urban components interact through a non-convex energy minimization problem in which they are propagated under arrangement constraints over a planimetric map. Our approach is experimentally validated on complex buildings and large urban scenes of millions of points, and is compared to state-of-the-art methods.
