[Termes IGN] segmentationRésumé : (auteur) GaoFen-7 (GF-7) satellite mission is further expanding the very high resolution 3D mapping application. Carrying the first civilian Chinese sub-meter resolution stereo satellite sensors, GF-7 satellite was launched on November 7, 2019. With 0.65 meter resolution on backward view and 0.8 meter resolution forward view, GF-7 has been designed to meet the demand of natural resource monitoring, land surveying, and other mapping applications in China. The use of GF-7 for 3D city reconstruction is unfortunately restricted by the fixed large stereo view angle of forward and backward cameras with +26 and −5 degrees respectively which is not optimal for dense stereo matching in urban regions. In this paper, we intensively evaluate the quality of the GF-7 datasets by performing a series of urban monitoring applications, including road detection, building extraction and 3D reconstruction. In addition, we propose a 3D reconstruction workflow which uses the land cover classification result to refine the stereo matching result. Six sub-urban regions are selected from the available datasets in the middle of Germany. The results show that basic elements in urban scenes like buildings and roads could be detected from GF-7 datasets with high accuracy. With the proposed workflow, a 3D city model with a visually observed good quality can be delivered. [Termes IGN] orthorectificationRésumé : (Auteur) In this paper a novel region-based method is proposed for change detection using space borne panchromatic Cartosat-1 stereo imagery. In the first step, Digital Surface Models (DSMs) from two dates are generated by semi-global matching. The geometric lateral resolution of the DSMs is 5 m x 5 m and the height accuracy is in the range of approximately 3 m (RMSE). In the second step, mean-shift segmentation is applied on the orthorectified images of two dates to obtain initial regions. A region intersection following a merging strategy is proposed to get minimum change regions and multi-level change vectors are extracted for these regions. Finally change detection is achieved by combining these features with weighted change vector analysis. The result evaluations demonstrate that the applied DSM generation method is well suited for Cartosat-1 imagery, and the extracted height values can largely improve the change detection accuracy, moreover it is shown that the proposed change detection method can be used robustly for both forest and industrial areas. [Termes IGN] réflectanceRésumé : (Auteur) An image-based 3D surface reconstruction method based on simultaneous evaluation of intensity and polarisation features (shape from photopolarimetric reflectance) and its combination with absolute depth data is introduced in this article. The proposed technique is based on the analysis of single or multiple intensity and polarisation images. To compute the surface gradients, we present a global optimisation method based on a variational framework and a local optimisation method based on solving a set of non-linear equations individually for each image pixel. These approaches are suitable for strongly non-Lambertian surfaces and those of diffuse reflectance behaviour and can also be adapted to surfaces of non-uniform albedo. We describe how independently measured absolute depth data is integrated into the shape from photopolarimetric reflectance framework in order to increase the accuracy of the 3D reconstruction result. In this context we concentrate on dense but noisy depth data obtained by depth from defocus and on sparse but accurate depth data obtained by stereo or structure from motion analysis. We show that depth from defocus information should preferentially be used for initialising the optimisation schemes for the surface gradients. For integration of sparse depth information, we suggest an optimisation scheme that simultaneously adapts the surface gradients to the measured intensity and polarisation data and to the surface slopes implied by depth differences between pairs of depth points. In principle, arbitrary sources of depth information are possible in the presented framework. Experiments on synthetic and on real-world data reveal that while depth from defocus is especially helpful for providing an initial estimate of the surface gradients and the albedo in the absence of a-priori knowledge, integration of stereo or structure from motion information significantly increases the 3D reconstruction accuracy. In our real-world experiments, we regard the scenarios of 3D reconstruction of raw forged iron surfaces in the domain of industrial quality inspection and the generation of a digital elevation model of a section of the lunar surface in the context of space-based planetary exploration.
