In this paper, we focus on the computation of the Origin Destination matrix using mobile phone data. First, a new approach of OD matrix design which takes into account the spatiotemporal heterogeneities of mobile phone data is proposed. Second, some analysis allowing measuring the effect of spatio-temporal filtering on the OD matrix results are carried out. Such information is required for various kinds of spatial planning in the public and business sectors. Movement data by themselves are semantically poor. Meaningful information can be derived by means of interactive visual analysis performed by a human expert; however, this is only possible for data about a small number of people. We suggest an approach that allows scaling to large datasets reflecting movements of numerous people. It includes extracting stops, clustering them for identifying personal places of interest (POIs), and creating temporal signatures of the POIs characterizing the temporal distribution of the stops with respect to the daily and weekly time cycles and the time line. The analyst can give meanings to selected POIs based on their temporal signatures (i.e., classify them as home, work, etc.), and then POIs with similar signatures can be classified automatically. We demonstrate the possibilities for interactive visual semantic analysis by example of GSM, GPS, and Twitter data. GPS data allow inferring richer semantic information, but temporal signatures alone may be insufficient for interpreting short stops. Twitter data are similar to GSM data but additionally contain message texts, which can help in place interpretation. We plan to develop an intelligent system that learns how to classify personal places and trips while a human analyst visually analyzes and semantically annotates selected subsets of movement data. We wish to learn more about the history of each commune but also to identify stylized facts if any. In order to understand the evolution of the population at the commune level, a first web interface has been proposed. It allows a better understanding of the aggregation processes. Then we built topographic vector data bases from old maps which required the understanding of the map content as well as a long process of interactive digitalization. To start the analysis step, we developed indices that characterize each commune. At least the analysis is performed: it is based first on the classification of each commune over time. Current study is focusing on the analysis of transitions over time. [Termes IGN] téléphonie mobileRésumé : (auteur) In the past few years, mobile network data are considered as a useful complementary source of information for human mobility research. Mobile phone datasets contain massive amount of spatiotemporal localization of millions of users. The analyze of such huge amount of data for mobility studies reveals many issues such as time computation, users sampling, spatiotemporal heterogeneities, semantic incompleteness. In this chapter, two issues are addressed: (1) location sampling aiming at decreasing computation time without losing useful information on the one hand and to eliminate data considered as noise in the other hand and (2) users sampling whose goal is to select users having relevant information. For the first issue two measures allowing eliminating redundant information and ping-pong positions are proposed. The second issue requires the definition of a set of measures allowing estimating mobile phone data quality. New methods to qualify mobile phone data at local and global level are proposed. The methods are tested on one-day mobile phone data coming from technical mobile network probes.
