[Termes IGN] signalisation routièreRésumé : (auteur) A method for accurate 3D reconstruction of road features from multiple calibrated aerial images of urban areas is proposed in this paper. We here focus on road-marks and in particular on zebra-crossings and discontinuous road-marks separating circulation lanes. The approaches used here are generic and based on a-priori external knowledge and thus constrain the extraction of image features. As we will explain, two strategies are adopted depending on the object size. For zebra-crossings, we first build 3D segments representing stripes’ borders by 2D segments matching. For discontinuous lanes, we build a graph describing the network in each image and then match nodes in order to obtain 3D position of stripes’ centers. This provides in both cases an initial solution in 3D space. Using geometric and radiometric modeling to obtain a set of plausible models, e then look for an optimal solution. The last step yields us to choose the best one in adequacy with images data. A correlation based energy and template matching strategy achieve this in a hierarchical frame. The algorithm is finally evaluated with ground control points surveyed with a millimetric precision. [Termes IGN] système de numérisation mobileRésumé : (auteur) Zebra-crossings are very specific road features that are less generalized when imaged at different scales. We aim to use zebra-crossings as control objects for georeferencing the images provided by a Mobile Mapping System (MMS) using the oriented aerial images of the same area. In this paper, we present a full automatic method for 3D zebra-crossing reconstruction from our MMS calibrated stereo rig. In our image-based georeferencing context, reconstruction accuracy is a priority. The only assumption made is that each zebra-crossing band is supposed to be planar and to have an a priori known 3D width. The method consists in reconstructing the 3D edges using a sub-pixel edge matching process by dynamic programming. The detection step is run on all 3D edges around the estimated road plane by looking for parallel segment lines with specific distances. The accurate 3D plane of each band is then estimated from the points belonging to the two previously detected sides. The short sides of each band are detected on the image and are projected onto the 3D plane of the band. Our method is robust and provides promising results. We have a good geometric accuracy. [Termes IGN] système de numérisation mobileRésumé : (auteur) This paper proposes ideas and some solutions for providing different quality level processes and products of a ground-based Mobile Mapping Data Collection System (MMDCS) for 3D city and road modelling. The primary products are image-based databases with different georeferencing qualities. Then cooperative applications of terrestrial and aerial images for higher level processes such as road-marks extraction and building reconstruction are discussed. We will also show that an image database is of great potential to improve quality of positioning in autonomous navigation applications.
