[Termes IGN] image hyperspectraleRésumé : (auteur) Hyperspectral imagery generates huge data volumes, consisting of hundreds of contiguous and often highly redundant spectral bands. Difficulties are caused by this high dimensionality. Feature selection (FS) is a possible strategy to reduce the number of bands, consisting in selecting the most relevant bands for a classification problem. It is adapted to the design of superspectral sensor dedicated to specific applications. FS is an optimization problem involving both a metric (that is to say a FS score or criterion measuring the relevance of feature subsets) to optimize and an optimization strategy. In this paper, a wrapper FS score based on Random Forests (RF) and taking into account RF class membership measures was proposed. It was compared to a state-of-the-art wrapper FS score (classification Kappa obtained by RF). Both were then evaluated quantitatively considering both classification performance reached applying different classifiers. An qualitative analysis was also performed to consider the stability/regularity of the selected features along the spectrum. Even though the quantitative evaluation showed little differences between the two tested FS criteria, there seemed to be a trend in favour of the proposed criterion. Taking into account the measures of class membership provided by a RF classifier slightly improved results, regularizing feature selection. Moreover, an increasing number of sensors, such as optical and SAR satellite images or Lidar point cloud, allow to cover large areas regularly, and with a very high precision. Thus, automatic methods have to be developed to take into account the complementarity of available observations. In this paper, several fusion methods are proposed and introduced in an existing Land-Cover mapping framework. Those methods are compared on several scenarii (based on optical, SAR and Lidar datasets), and evaluated thanks to a very high resolution LC-DB. [Termes IGN] véhicule automobileRésumé : (auteur) Vision based localization is a cost effective method for indoor and outdoor application. However, it has drift problem if none global optimization is used. We proposed a geo-referenced traffic sign based localization method, which integrated the constraints of 3D traffic signs with local bundle adjustment to reduce the drift. Comparing to global bundle adjustment, Local Bundle Adjustment(LBA) has low computational cost but suffers the drift problem for large scale localization because of the random error accumulation. We reduced the drift by means of the constraints from geo-referenced traffic signs for bundle adjustment process. The original LBA model was extended for the constraints and the traffic signs were detected in images and matched with 3D landmark database automatically. From the experiments of simulated and real images, our approach can reduce the drift and have better locating results than none-constraint LBA based localization method. [Termes IGN] texturageRésumé : (Auteur) This paper deals with the identification of blind building façades, i.e. façades which have no openings, in wide angle aerial images with a decimeter pixel size, acquired by nadir looking cameras. This blindness characterization is in general crucial for real estate estimation and has, at least in France, a particular importance on the evaluation of legal permission of constructing on a parcel due to local urban planning schemes. We assume that we have at our disposal an aerial survey with a relatively high stereo overlap along-track and across-track and a 3D city model of LoD 1, that can have been generated with the input images. The 3D model is textured with the aerial imagery by taking into account the 3D occlusions and by selecting for each façade the best available resolution texture seeing the whole façade. We then parse all 3D façades textures by looking for evidence of openings (windows or doors). This evidence is characterized by a comprehensive set of basic radiometric and geometrical features. The blindness prognostic is then elaborated through an (SVM) supervised classification. Despite the relatively low resolution of the images, we reach a classification accuracy of around 85% on decimeter resolution imagery with 60×40%60×40% stereo overlap. On the one hand, we show that the results are very sensitive to the texturing resampling process and to vegetation presence on façade textures. On the other hand, the most relevant features for our classification framework are related to texture uniformity and horizontal aspect and to the maximal contrast of the opening detections. We conclude that standard aerial imagery used to build 3D city models can also be exploited to some extent and at no additional cost for facade blindness characterisation.
