[Termes IGN] visibilitéRésumé : (auteur) Estimating the atmospheric or meteorological visibility distance is very important for air and ground transport safety, as well as for air quality. However, there is no holistic approach to tackle the problem by camera. Most existing methods are data-driven approaches, which perform a linear regression between the contrast in the scene and the visual range estimated by means of reference additional sensors. In this paper, we propose a probabilistic model-based approach which takes into account the distribution of contrasts in the scene. It is robust to illumination variations in the scene by taking into account the Lambertian surfaces. To evaluate our model, meteorological ground truth data were collected, showing very promising results. This works opens new perspectives in the computer vision community dealing with environmental issues. [Termes IGN] Paris (75)Résumé : (auteur) This paper presents a pipeline in progress for generating virtual 3D model of urban street facades by fusing cadastral map with terrestrial images and laser data. A Mobile Mapping System (MMS) has been employed to massively gather georeferenced images and laser raw data at street level. Firstly, we describe the context as well as our motivation that aims at enriching the quality of the virtual urban environments. Secondly, we briefly present advanced works on 3D street facades mapping by merging the cadastral map and laser data. These works addressed the street facade plane estimation, their delimitation, and their texturing. Thirdly, we present a novel extension we are working on for extracting 3D detailed facade limits by fusing the cadastral map with laser and image data. This extension is essentially focused to the detection of fine 2D skylines from acquired high resolution facade images and to the estimation of the detailed 3D facade top boundaries. The presented work deals with datasets acquired in the city of Paris under real conditions. Advances and results show the potential of the envisaged pipeline for applications such as the visualization and the large scale navigation in virtual 3D street model. [Termes IGN] scène urbaineRésumé : (auteur) Terrestrial geolocalized images are nowadays widely used on the Internet, mainly in urban areas, through immersion services such as Google Street View. On the long run, we seek to enhance the visualization of these images. For that purpose, radiometric corrections must be performed to free them from illumination conditions at the time of acquisition. Given the simultaneously acquired 3D geometric model of the scene with LIDAR or vision techniques, we face an inverse problem where the illumination and the geometry of the scene are known and the reflectance of the scene is to be estimated. Our main contribution is the introduction of a symbolic ray-tracing rendering to generate parametric images, for quick evaluation and comparison with the acquired images. The proposed approach is then based on an iterative estimation of the reflectance parameters of the materials, using a single rendering pre-processing. We validate the method on synthetic data with linear BRDF models and discuss the limitations of the proposed approach with more general non-linear BRDF models.
