[Termes IGN] station GNSSRésumé : (Auteur) The Working Group on "Regional Dense Velocity Fields" (see http://epncb.oma.be/IAG) of the International Association of Geodesy (IAG) aims at densifying the International Terrestrial Reference Frame and creating a dense velocity field based on regional and global GNSS networks. With the goal to generate a high-quality solution for a core network, several newly reprocessed global and regional cumulative position and velocity solutions were submitted to the Working Group. In order to find a consensus on discontinuity epochs for stations common to several networks (an issue which was problematic in previous submissions), the new submissions were restricted to contain only the core networks over which the analyst has full control so that ITRF2008 discontinuities could be applied. The 3D-RMS of the agreement of the new solutions with the ITRF2008 (after outlier rejection) varies between 0.6 and 1.1 mm/year; it is extremely good for some solutions, while others still require more iteration to reach the required level of agreement. A part of these disagreements has been identified and often originates in the use of different data time spans within the ITRF2008 and submitted solution. In the upcoming year, the Working Group expects to generate and use a discontinuity database complementing the ITRF2008 set and identify/solve the sources of disagreements. In addition, several of the regional solutions will be reprocessed to embed the regional network in a global network and reduce the error induced by the network effect. [Termes IGN] télémétrie laser terrestreRésumé : (Auteur) Determination of stem and crown biomass requires accurate measurements of individual tree stem, bark, branch and needles. These measurements are time-consuming especially for mature trees. Accurate field measurements can be done only in a destructive manner. Terrestrial laser scanning (TLS) measurements are a viable option for measuring the reference information needed. TLS measurements provide dense point clouds in which features describing biomass can be extracted for stem form and canopy dimensions. Existing biomass models do not utilise canopy size information and therefore TLS-based estimation methods should improve the accuracy of biomass estimation. The main objective of this study was to estimate single-tree-level aboveground biomass (AGB), based on models developed using TLS data. The modelling dataset included 64 laboratory-measured trees. Models were developed for total AGB, tree stem-, living branch- and dead branch biomass. Modelling results were also compared with existing individual tree-level biomass models and showed that AGB estimation accuracies were improved, compared with those of existing models. However, current biomass models based on diameter-at-breast height (DBH), tree height and species worked rather well for stem- and total biomass. TLS-based models improved estimation accuracies, especially estimation of branch biomass. We suggest the use of stem curve and crown size geometric measurements from TLS data as a basis for allometric biomass models rather than statistical three-dimensional point metrics, since TLS statistical metrics are dependent on various scanning parameters and tree neighbourhood characteristics. The paper describes the procedure to implement this integrated approach in the real-world situations of surveillance of archaeological and built heritage. Targeted tests were carried out on the case study of the Domus Tiberiana sited along the northern side of the Palatino Hill in the central archaeological area of Rome, Italy, and displacements of the monument were monitored over almost one year of acquisition. The GBInSAR - TLS integration provided updated information about the condition of the archaeological structures in relation to their history of instability mechanisms, and did not highlighted a general worsening for the stability of the entire monument. Point-wise and prompt detection of displacement anomalies and/or sudden changes in displacement trends proved the suitability of the method to support early warning procedures, also to evaluate effects on the masonry due to human activities. [Termes IGN] réductionRésumé : (Auteur) Water level reduction with global navigation satellite systems in bathymetric surveying requires knowledge of the ellipsoidal heights of lowest astronomical tide (LAT). The traditional approach uses tidal water levels of an ocean tide model, which are subtracted from mean sea level (MSL). This approach has two major drawbacks: the modeled water levels refer to an equipotential surface, which differs from MSL, and MSL may not be known close to the coast. Here, we propose to model LAT directly relative to an equipotential surface (geoid). This is conceptually consistent with the flow equations and allows the inclusion of temporal MSL variations into the LAT definition. Numerical experiments for the North Sea show that significant differences between the traditional and the pursued approach exist if average monthly variations in MSL are included. A validation of the modeled LAT using tide gauge records reveals systematic errors, which we attribute to both the model and the tidal analysis procedure. We also show that the probability that water levels drop below LAT is high, with maximum frequency of once per week in the eastern North Sea. Therefore, we propose to reconsider the deterministic concept of LAT by a probabilistic chart datum concept, and we quantified the differences between them.
