[Termes IGN] détection de cibleRésumé : (Auteur) This paper presents two semisupervised one-class support vector machine (OC-SVM) classifiers for remote sensing applications. In one-class image classification, one tries to detect pixels belonging to one of the classes in the image and reject the others. When few labeled pixels of only one class are available, obtaining a reliable classifier is a difficult task. In the particular case of SVM-based classifiers, this task is even harder because the free parameters of the model need to be finely adjusted, but no clear criterion can be adopted. In order to improve the OC-SVM classifier accuracy and alleviate the problem of free-parameter selection, the information provided by unlabeled samples present in the scene can be used. In this paper, we present two state-of-the-art algorithms for semi-supervised one-class classification for remote sensing classification problems. The first proposed algorithm is based on modifying the OC-SVM kernel by modeling the data marginal distribution with the graph Laplacian built with both labeled and unlabeled samples. The second one is based on a simple modification of the standard SVM cost function which penalizes more the errors made when classifying samples of the target class. The good performance of the proposed methods is illustrated in four challenging remote sensing image classification scenarios where the goal is to detect one of the classes present on the scene. In particular, we present results for multisource urban monitoring, hyperspectral crop detection, multispectral cloud screening, and change-detection problems. Experimental results show the suitability of the proposed techniques, particularly in cases with few or poorly representative labeled samples. [Termes IGN] variationRésumé : (Auteur) A concentration of surface mass has a distinct, localized signature in Gravity Recovery and Climate Experiment (GRACE) K-band range rate (KBRR) data. This fact is exploited in the regional solutions for mass concentration parameters (mascons) made at the Goddard Space Flight Center (GSFC). In this paper we explore an experimental set of regionally constrained mascon blocks over Southern Africa where a system of 1.25° times 1.5° and 1.5° times 1.5° blocks has been designed. The blocks are divided into hydrological regions based on drainage patterns of the largest river basins, and are constrained in different ways. We show that the use of regional constraints, when solving mascon parameters of different hydrological regions independently, yields more detail and variation than comparable spherical harmonic solutions and mascon solutions using isotropic constraints. We validate our results over Lake Malawi with water level from altimetry. Results show that weak constraints across regions in addition to intra-regional constraints are necessary, to reach reasonable mass variations. [Termes IGN] surveillance hydrologiqueRésumé : (Auteur) This study provides an initial evaluation of a global flood monitoring system (GFMS) using satellite-based precipitation and readily available geospatial datasets. The GFMS developed by our group uses a relatively simple hydrologic model, based on the run-off curve number method, to transform precipitation into run-off. A grid-to-grid routing scheme moves run-off downstream. Precipitation estimates are from the TRMM Multi-satellite Precipitation Analysis (TMPA). We first evaluated the TMPA algorithm using a radar/gauge merged precipitation product (Stage IV) over south-east USA. This analysis indicated that the spatial scale (and hence the basin size) as well as regional and seasonal considerations are important in using the TMPA to drive hydrologic models. GFMS-based run-off simulations were evaluated using observed streamflow data at the outlet of two US basins and also using a global flood archive. Basin-scale analysis showed that the GFMS was able to simulate the onset of flood events produced by heavy precipitation; however, the simulation performance deteriorated in the later stages. This result points out the need for an improved routing component. Global-scale analysis indicated that the GFMS is able to detect 38% of the observed floods; however, it suffers from region-dependent bias. [Termes IGN] Setchouan (Chine)Résumé : (Auteur) The Wenchuan Earthquake occurred on 12 May 2008 followed by frequent aftershocks. The earthquake suddenly caused heavy damage to roads, bridges, buildings and communication facilities. Two B4101 Citation II remote sensing airplanes from the Chinese Academy of Sciences took off to monitor the region soon after the earthquake and collected images using a synthetic aperture radar (SAR) device and an optical ADS40 sensor. Using images obtained from airborne surveys, a damage consequence chain was mapped that provided information about the type of damage and its extent. This proved to be of great help for rescue operations and after earthquake reconstructions. We present details of airborne survey, images and mapping of damages caused by the earthquake and the use of such information for a rescue operation. [Termes IGN] programmation par contraintesRésumé : (Auteur) Spatial optimization is complex because it usually involves numerous spatial factors and constraints. The optimization becomes more challenging if a large set of spatial data with fine resolutions are used. This article presents an agent-based model for optimal land allocation (AgentLA) by maximizing the total amount of land-use suitability and the compactness of patterns. The essence of the optimization is based on the collective efforts of agents for formulating the optimal patterns. A local and global search strategy is proposed to inform the agents to select the sites properly. Three sets of hypothetical data were first used to verify the optimization effects. AgentLA was then applied to the solution of the actual land allocation optimization problems in Panyu city in the Pearl River Delta. The study has demonstrated that the proposed method has better performance than the simulated annealing method for solving complex spatial optimization problems. Experiments also indicate that the proposed model can produce patterns that are very close to the global optimums.
