[Termes IGN] squelettisationRésumé : (Auteur) This paper is about an example of PLEIADES applications, the 3D building reconstruction. The future PLEIADES satellites are especially well adapted to deal with 3D building reconstruction through the sub-metric resolution of images and its stereoscopic characteristics. We propose a fully automatic 3D-city model of dense urban areas using a parametric approach. First, a Digital Elevation Model (DEM) is generated using an algorithm based on a maximum-flow formulation using three views. Then, building footprints are extracted from the DEM through an automatic method based on marked point processes : they are represented by an association of rectangles that we regularize by improving the connection of the neighboring rectangles and the facade discontinuity detection. Finally, a 3D-reconstruction method based on a skeleton process which allows to model the rooftops is proposed from the DEM and the building footprints. The different building heights constitute parameters which are estimated and then regularized by the "K-means" algorithm including an entropy term. [Termes IGN] orthoimageRésumé : (Auteur) The IGN digital camera project was established in the early 1990s. The first research surveys were carried out in 1996 and the digital camera was first used in production in 2000. In 2004 approximately 10 French departments (accounting for 10% of the territory) were covered with a four-head camera system and since summer 2005 all IGN imagery has been acquired digitally. Nevertheless the camera system is still evolving, with tests on new geometric configurations being continuously undertaken. The progressive integration of the system in IGN production workflows has allowed IGN to keep the system evolving in accordance with production needs. Remaining problems are due to specific camera characteristics such as CCD format, the optical quality of off-the-shelf lenses, and because some production tools are ill-adapted to digital images with a large dynamic range. However, when considering the pros and cons of integrating these images into production lines, the disadvantages are largely balanced by the numerous benefits this technology offers. [Termes IGN] transformation géométriqueRésumé : (Auteur) If photogrammetry has been used for a long time to describe the topography, airborne laser systems are nowadays well-known to provide an accurate representation of terrestrial landscapes through irregular 3D point clouds. Both technologies have their pros and cons that a joint use may optimize to reach a better description of 3D scenes. Beyond the adjustment problem of laser strips, combining optical and laser data is at first a registration problem, especially when using high resolution images. We propose in this paper a methodology for registering laser strips with regard to a photogrammetric derived Digital Surface Model (DSM) which has been computed from a set of known pose calibrated images. Based on the main hypothesis that the geometrical frames of laser systems and digital cameras are linked with a regular function, we describe an algorithm based on the calculation of linear approximations of this transform with 3D local translations. Due to the irregular spatial distribution of laser data and the difficulty of detecting homologous points in the DSM, we adopt a statistical strategy to find patch correspondences which leads to analyze the distribution of a certain vector set of potential homologous candidates. We then propose to estimate an analytical model through a weighted sliding window strategy. Laser strips are corrected globally in a chronological order. The algorithm is validated onto synthetic transforms. Experimental results show the capability of the registration algorithm on raw laser data sets. An automatic building extraction method based on marked point processes is used to provide rectangular building footprints. Based on a parametric model with rectangular ground footprint, the proposed method is developed using a Bayesian approach : we search for the best configuration of parametric models with respect to both a priori knowledge of models and their interactions, and a likelihood which fits models to the DEM. A simulated annealing is used to find the configuration which maximizes the a posteriori density of the Bayesian expression.
