Szebehely] An interesting example is one of Professor Vicente's favorite subjects the precession of the equinoxes. It took about 1900 years from Hipparchus' discovery to Euler's (1749) first explanation and another 200 years to Professor Vicente's series of papers to offer complete scientific understanding ot the important relation between nutation and the Earth's constitution.
Professor Vicente often refers to the work of Marquis de Pierre Simon Laplace with admiration. It is interesting to note a strong difference between the presentations and writings of Laplace and Vicente. The frequently appearing notes in Laplace's work, “Il est facile de conclure” or “Il est aisé d'avoir” are completely missing in Vicente's papers, where concepts and derivations are always complete, comprehensive and nothing is left to the reader's imagination of diligence.
The reader will find with interest that Professor Vicente's international scientific contributions extend to several other subjects besides rotation of the Earth problems. One of the most fascinating and significant subjects he contributed is stability of the solar system, of asteroids, of planetary systems, etc. Here we once again find him working with Laplace, explaining and improving Laplace's fundamental contributions.Numéro de notice : 66888 Affiliation des auteurs : non IGN Thématique : POSITIONNEMENT Nature : Recueil / ouvrage collectif Permalink : https://documentation.ensg.eu/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=44586 Réservation
