[Termes descripteurs IGN] YémenRésumé : (Auteur) On the initiative of Marylène Barret, archeologist and art restorer working at the French embassy in Sana'a Yemen, and detached at the SFD (Social Fund for Development) of Yemen, professors of the French ENSG (Ecole National des Sciences Géographiques), together with some of their student went twice to Yemen since October 2004 to survey five historic mosques on point of being restored. The goal of both field operations and post-processing of the collected data was to provide a specific training ant to enable a transfer of technology to a Yemini team who should soon be in charge of organizing by themselves similar operations as part of a specific unit at the SFD. Today, according to an agreement between the ENSG and the SFD, trainings should go to make that unit operational as soon as possible. [Termes descripteurs IGN] reconstruction 3DRésumé : (Auteur) [introduction] The publication starts with an introduction to heritage documentation by presenting the state-of-the art, the different approaches and the tools engaged in heritage documentation procedures. The first section includes papers presented in the 2007 CIPA Symposium in Athens, Greece. All papers have been selected by a special jury and awarded Best Paper awards in various categories at the Symposium. The six (6) selected papers concern Best Practices and Applications. All the papers present different aspects, applications, technical problems and novel approaches to CH documentation. The second section is dedicated to papers presented in the 2009 CIPA Symposium in Kyoto, Japan. As in the case of Athens, all papers have been selected by a special jury. The seven (7) selected papers concern Best Practices and Applications. All selected papers present different aspects, applications, technical problems and novel approaches to CH documentation, mainly in Asia. The publication concludes with a brief description on the future trends in heritage documentation. Note de contenu : 1. Introduction to heritage documentation / P. Patias, M. Santana

[Termes descripteurs IGN] vision par ordinateurRésumé : (Auteur) A simple and cheap tool has been developed for measuring shards of old ceramics, found in archaeological yards. It is based on a digital camera, and various photogrammetric and computer vision freeware completed by home-made software developments. The paper presents the equipment used for the acquisition of the images, and the processing software for the various steps. This software is mainly based on algorithms originating from computer vision community, and from more classical photogrammetry. Some intermediate results are presented, the final output of the present work being a very dense cloud of points describing the geometry of the surface of the shard, that may be post processed by many off-the-shelf drawing commercial software, depending on the needs of the archaeologists.
