[Termes IGN] prototypeRésumé : (auteur) Cadastral surveying plays an important role in defining legal boundaries of land and property. The current practice for recording cadastral survey data mainly relies on 2D digital or analog documents. This practice is efficient for simple land parcels but can be challenged in complex building developments. To address the issues stemmed from 2D methods of representing cadastral survey data, 3D spatial information models can be considered as a viable solution for managing cadastral survey data. Building Information Modeling (BIM) enables colsslaborative 3D management of the design, construction, and operation of buildings. There have been extensive studies conducted to investigate the connectivity between BIM and 3D cadaster. Most of these studies focus on managing legal information, such as ownership boundaries and attributes, in BIM-based environments. However, there is limited investigation on how surveying measurements can be mapped into BIM. In this study, the proposed method for integrating the cadastral survey data into the BIM environment includes identifying cadastral survey requirements, using BIM entities relevant to cadastral survey data, enrichment of a BIM prototype, and evaluation of the prototype. The major contribution of this study is to demonstrate the storage of cadastral survey data such as survey marks and traverse lines in the BIM environment. Therefore, this research contributes to the further enrichment of BIM with incorporating data elements related to cadastral surveying practices. It is confirmed that current BIM-based tools provide restricted capabilities for explicit management and visualization of cadastral survey data. This limitation can be addressed in the future enhancements of BIM in terms of supporting important elements for cadastral survey data. [Termes IGN] utilisateurRésumé : (auteur) Recommender systems (RS), as supportive tools, filter information from a massive amount of data based on the determined preferences. Most of the RS require information about the context of users such as their locations. In such cases, location-aware recommender systems (LARS) can be employed to suggest more personalized items to the users. The most current research projects on LARS focus on the development of algorithms, evaluation methods and applications. However, the role of up-to-date spatial databases in LARS is not a well-researched area. The up-to-date spatial information would potentially improve the accuracy of items which are recommended by LARS. Volunteered geographic information (VGI) could be a low-cost source of up-to-date spatial information for LARS. This article proposes an approach to enrich spatial databases of LARS by VGI. Since not all records of VGI are fitted for use in LARS, a mechanism is developed to identify useful information. Some VGI data sets refer to existing spatial data in the database while other VGI data sets are shared for the first time. Therefore, the proposed method assessed the quality of VGI with reference source (for VGI which is existed in the database) and VGI without reference source (for VGI which is shared for the first time). To demonstrate the feasibility of the proposed approach, a mobile application has been developed to recommend suitable restaurants to the users based on their geospatial locations. The evaluation of the method indicates that VGI can potentially enhance the functionality of the LARS in predicting the users’ interests. These plans are recognized as posing a range of challenges in terms of communicating the spatial complexity of ownership spaces within multi-storey buildings. In response to these challenges, three-dimensional (3D) digital data environments are being investigated as a potential approach for managing complex, vertically stratified ownership arrangements. The argument presented in this article is that Building Information Modelling (BIM) can be adopted for 3D digital management of data related to complex ownership spaces. BIM provides a common and 3D digital data sharing space, underpinning a reliable basis for facilitating collaboration and decision-making over the lifecycle of buildings. However, ownership attributes and the spatial structure of ownership arrangements inside buildings are yet to be accommodated within the BIM data environment. In this article, we present a range of required data elements for managing complex ownership spaces, which have been elicited by investigating current practices pertaining to subdivision of ownership spaces within multi-storey buildings in Melbourne, Australia. An open data model in the BIM domain is extended with these data elements and a prototype model for a real multi-storey building is implemented to demonstrate the viability of the extended data model for 3D digital management and visualization of data related to complex ownership arrangements. [Termes IGN] système d'extension spatialRésumé : (auteur) Current land administration systems mainly use 2D plans to define and secure ownership rights associated with properties in high-rise buildings. These 2D plans may not effectively communicate and manage the spatial complexity associated with multi-layered and stacked properties in such buildings; additionally, multiple pages of plans (representing sections of the building) are required to represent all ownership boundaries. In response, land administration organizations have been investigating a 3D digital approach to managing information about ownership rights in high-rise building structures. In this article, Building Information Modeling (BIM) is proposed as a feasible approach for managing land and property information in high-rise buildings. BIM provides a collaborative, digital and intelligent 3D data environment for managing building information throughout the lifecycle of buildings. However, there is currently no capacity in BIM for recording and representing information about ownership and boundaries of properties, which is core land administration information. Therefore, this article proposes an extension to the BIM standard, which is implemented in a prototype BIM model of a complex building to showcase the potential capability of using BIM for high-rise land administration and for modeling 3D ownership rights.
