[Termes IGN] segmentationRésumé : (Auteur) Tree height and crown diameter are two common individual tree attributes that can be estimated from Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) images thanks to photogrammetry and structure from motion. This research investigates the potential of low-cost UAV aerial images to estimate tree height and crown diameter. Two successful flights were carried out in two different seasons corresponding to leaf-off and leaf-on conditions to generate Digital Terrain Model (DTM) and Digital Surface Model (DSM), which were further employed in calculation of a Canopy Height Model (CHM). The CHM was used to estimate tree height using low pass and local maximum filters, and crown diameter was estimated based on an Invert Watershed Segmentation (IWS) algorithm. UAV-based tree height and crown diameter estimates were validated against field measurements and resulted in 3.22 m (10.1%) and 0.81 m (7.02%) RMSE, respectively. The results showed high agreement between our estimates and field measurements, with R2=0.808 for tree height and R2=0.923 for crown diameter. Generally, the accuracy of the results was considered acceptable and confirmed the usefulness of this approach for estimating tree heights and crown diameter. [Termes IGN] variable aléatoireRésumé : (auteur) In this paper, we describe a framework to find a good quality waste collection tour after a flood, without having to solve a complicated optimization problem from scratch in limited time. We model the computation of a waste collection tour as a capacitated routing problem, on the vertices or on the edges of a graph, with uncertain waste quantities and uncertain road availability. Multiple models have been conceived to manage uncertainty in routing problems, and we build on the ideas of discretizing the uncertain parameters and computing master solutions that can be adapted to propose an original method to compute efficient solutions. We first introduce our model for the progressive removal of the uncertainty, then outline our method to compute solutions: our method first considers a low-dimensional set of random variables that govern the behaviour of the problem parameters, discretizes these variables and computes a solution for each discrete point before the flood, and then uses these solutions as a basis to build operational solutions when there are enough information about the parameters of the routing problem. We then give computational tools to implement this method. We give a framework to compute the basis of solutions in an efficient way, by computing all the solutions simultaneously and sharing information (that can lead to good quality solutions) between the different problems based on how close their parameters are, and we also describe how real solutions can be derived from this basis. Our main contributions are our model for the progressive removal of uncertainty, our multi-step method to compute efficient solutions, and our intrusive framework to compute solutions on the discrete grid of parameters. [Termes IGN] données multisourcesRésumé : (Auteur) [Editorial] There is a growing interest in the photogrammetry and remote sensing community for multi-modal data, i. e., data simultaneously acquired from a variety of platforms, including satellites, aircraft, UAS/UGS, autonomous vehicles, etc., by different sensors, such as radar, optical, LiDAR. Thanks to their different spatial, spectral, or temporal resolutions, the use of complementary data sources leads to richer and more robust information extraction. We expect that the use of multiple modalities will rapidly become a standard approach in the future. The main difficulty of jointly processing multi-modal data is due to the differences in structure among modalities. Another issue is the unbalanced number of labelled samples available across modalities, resulting in a significant gap in performance when models are trained separately. Clearly, the photogrammetry and remote sensing community has not yet exploited the full potential of multi-modal data. Neural networks seem well suited for accommodating different data sources, thanks to their capabilities to learn representations adapted to each task in an end-to-end fashion. In this context, there is a strong need for research and development of approaches for multi-sensory and multi-modal deep learning within the geospatial domain.
