[Termes IGN] signal GNSSRésumé : (Auteur) Estimating and comparing the various GNSS signals’ time-to-first-fix is an excellent tool for evaluating the design trades made on GNSS signal structures and a particularly important feature for general users in the mass market. This column describes the various factors that contribute to delays in a receiver’s initial position fix and proposes a methodology for estimating time-to-first-fix for various signals and receiver start conditions. [Termes IGN] traitement de données GNSSRésumé : (Auteur) Real-time corrections at the decimeter level over an entire continent? The challenge lies in minimizing the ranging errors from signals propagating through the Earth’s atmosphere. European researchers describe how it can be done using a Wide Area Real-Time Kinematic concept that exploits the full geometry of the observations, a central processing facility, and undifferenced processing of measurements from widely space GNSS reference receivers to create a real-time ionospheric model of the signal slant delays. [Termes IGN] système de contrôleRésumé : (Auteur) GPS provides position and velocity measurements, from which attitude information can also be synthesized for a fixed wing-aircraft. This suggests the potential of implementing a single-antenna GPS receiver as the sole navigation sensor for an aircraft. For several years, researchers at Seoul National University have investigated the feasibility of developing a low-cost automatic flight control system based on this design. Flight tests described have demonstrated that a single-antenna GPS receiver could be used as a primary sensor for low-cost flight control system of an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) or a backup system for an expensive UAV or general aviation (GA).
