[Termes IGN] superposition d'imagesRésumé : (Auteur) Diverse applications can benefit from the integration of data acquired by a new generation of close-range imaging sensors with high-resolution three-dimensional (3D) geometric data. However, such integration requires increased automation and efficiency of image-data registration to guarantee adoption by users beyond the geomatics community. This paper presents a semi-automated method for registering terrestrial panoramic hyperspectral imagery with lidar models and conventional digital photography. The method relies on finding corresponding points between images acquired in significantly different parts of the electromagnetic spectrum, from different viewpoints, and with different spatial resolution and geometric projections. Optimisation of the scale invariant feature transform (SIFT) operator was required to ensure a sufficient number of homologous points, as well as a routine for eliminating false matches. A band selection routine maximises the number of points found while minimising the input data for SIFT. Three-dimensional object coordinates were derived in the lidar model and used as control points in a bundle block adjustment to determine the hyperspectral exterior orientation and intrinsic camera parameters. The method developed was applied to two datasets with different characteristics, and the results indicate that the proposed method is a time-saving alternative to manual approaches. [Termes IGN] site archéologiqueRésumé : (Auteur) Nowadays there is a huge proliferation of fully automatic image-based solutions producing either three-dimensional (3D) point clouds or 3D models. However, the reliability of the output is not usually reported and clarified. This paper presents a comparison of the 3D modelling results achieved on two rock art shelters at separate archaeological sites using a high-resolution digital camera. The 3D point clouds were produced using automatic image-based photogrammetric and computer vision software running either locally (FOTOGIFLE and VisualSFM) or through a web-based reconstruction service (Autodesk 123D Catch). The first two automatic approaches are compared with a manual bundle block adjustment. Dense image matching was undertaken to densify the point clouds prior to 3D modelling. The derived 3D models are compared with a time-of-flight laser scanning dataset that was used as ground truth. Statistical analysis shows significant metric differences on the digital surface models for the different solutions. [Termes IGN] simulationRésumé : (Auteur) Many of the theoretical concepts in photogrammetry are difficult to understand by means of equations and figures. Furthermore, commercial software is not usually adapted to the requirements of teaching and learning. However, photogrammetric simulation software based on virtual worlds can be used to improve both learning and understanding of complex geometrical issues such as the generation of true ortho-images in urban areas, and assists in training and skills development. This paper tackles image orthorectification by means of a photogrammetric simulation and its generation based on digital elevation/building/surface models, and the interior and exterior orientation parameters of the image sensor, namely, a digital camera. Internal processes such as masking and visibility analysis which are necessary to yield successful true ortho-images are reported, with examples from both simple and complex urban environments. [Termes IGN] ZiYuan-3Résumé : (Auteur) The ZiYuan-3 surveying satellite (ZY-3), launched on 9th January 2012, is China's first civilian high-resolution stereo mapping satellite. To ensure the mapping accuracy of ZY-3, considerable research has been conducted since its launch on the calibration and validation of its three-line array charge-coupled device (CCD) sensors (TLC sensors). Its dynamic exterior systematic errors (such as camera installation errors) and static interior distortion were eliminated using 1:2000 digital orthophotomaps and digital elevation models (DEMs) of the Dengfeng (Henan) and Tianjin areas of China as control data. Various CCD alignment calibration models were compared, on the basis of their geometric accuracy after calibration, to determine the optimal model. Finally, validation experiments were performed using ZY-3 TLC images and ground control points (GCPs) collected over Anping in Hebei Province, Zhaodong in Heilongjiang Province and the Taihang Mountain area in China. The positioning accuracy attained its theoretical value over the Anping and Zhaodong areas. Using GCPs whose image coordinates were obtained manually, the plan and height accuracy were found to be better than 3 m and 2 m, respectively. [Termes IGN] télémétrieRésumé : (Auteur) Time-of-flight range cameras offer numerous advantages for the measurement of dynamic phenomena, thanks to their ability to directly measure three-dimensional coordinates of objects at video rates using only one sensor. This paper reports the results of an investigation into the development of a range camera based system for measuring the deflection of reinforced concrete beams subjected to cyclic fatigue loading. New data segmentation methods and reconstruction algorithms have been developed to reconstruct the time-dependent displacement of the beam with sub-millimetre amplitude and millihertz-level frequency precision and accuracy in all three dimensions along the entire beam length. Moreover, sub-millimetre changes in displacement measurements due to stiffness degradation caused by fatigue are also reported.
