[Termes IGN] surface concaveRésumé : (Auteur) Critical keylines, such as concave and convex edges of a building façade, can be lost in photogrammetric recognition procedures. To solve this problem and to reconstruct quasi-planar 3D façades automatically and precisely, a set of algorithms and techniques for the automatic recognition of lines and 3D reconstruction is proposed. This includes: (1) a procedure for line-segment matching that satisfies the spatial requirements of a 3D scene based on “global independence” and “local dependence”; (2) a technique of generalised point bundle block adjustment combined with spatial line constraints (in the form of virtual observations) to control the propagation of error; and (3) the methods of perceptual organisation, plane fitting and plane–plane intersection are suggested to acquire the critical keylines corresponding to concave and convex building edges. Experimental results show that these new algorithms are feasible and applicable to recognition and 3D reconstruction. Recommendations for recognition methods are provided depending on whether or not a priori topological relationships are available between the planes under consideration. [Termes IGN] transformation en ondelettesRésumé : (Auteur) Current research on digital watermarking for the copyright protection of digital multimedia data has led to fairly advanced techniques with fruitful results. However, there remains a lack of research on digital watermarking for geospatial data, which is very costly to produce but is of great importance and with wide application. In this study an analysis and discussion of digital watermarking is carried out for digital aerial photogrammetric images. Focusing on the requirements for the main applications of such images, a feature-based digital watermarking algorithm is proposed. Testing and analysis of the robustness of the watermark is performed to achieve the goal of copyright protection, even after image processing and geometric transformation have been undertaken on the watermarked image. Furthermore, the image quality is (almost) preserved to avoid detrimental effects on subsequent applications. The experimental results prove that the proposed watermarking method has a certain degree of robustness and can resist most types of image-processing and geometric attacks, while maintaining the data quality of the aerial images. [Termes IGN] télémétrie laser terrestreRésumé : (Auteur) Estimation of the accuracy of terrestrial laser scanning has become a topical research issue. Point-cloud accuracy should be clearly differentiated from the accuracy of individual points, as it is influenced by positional errors and adjacent error spaces. Furthermore, it cannot be determined by the sum of positional errors. In this paper, it is proposed that the average error-ellipsoid model is favourable for evaluating the accuracy of point clouds. Central to this model is the computation of the overlap between adjacent error ellipsoids and the determination of a functional relationship between the average volume of error ellipsoids and the point-cloud accuracy. This paper outlines the key advantages of the proposed evaluation model, such as the capability of providing an estimate of local point-cloud accuracy. The effectiveness of the model is discussed using a validation experiment. [Termes IGN] image ZiYuan-3Résumé : (Auteur) ZY-3 is the first Chinese civilian high-resolution stereo-mapping satellite, designed for 1:50 000 scale mapping. Although ZY-3 has a very high accuracy for direct image geolocation without ground control points (GCPs), the use of some GCPs is still indispensable for stereo mapping. A novel method is proposed whereby spaceborne Geoscience Laser Altimeter System (GLAS) laser altimetry datasets are viewed as generalised height control points to support a ZY-3 block adjustment. This method separates planimetric and height control, integrating the latter with GLAS data such that, without other GCPs, the vertical accuracy of ZY-3 images can be improved significantly. Both flat and mountainous terrain were selected to evaluate the proposed method. The results show that by adding two GLAS height control points for a single image, or spaced every 50 km in the along-track (orbital) direction for block images, the vertical accuracy can satisfy the requirements of 1:50 000 scale mapping, thus reducing the need for field surveying. Additionally, the method will be valuable for integrating spaceborne laser altimetry data and optical images for global mapping without any GCPs.
