[Termes IGN] système d'information géographiqueRésumé : (Auteur) A detailed assessment of the plammetric accuracy of highresolution panchromatic Ikonos orthoirnage products for three different test sites is presented. The main objective was to evaluate the potential of Ikonos orthoirnage products for use as digital image basemaps in local government Geographic Information Systems (GIS) systems. For maximum utility and adoption, a planimetric accuracy of 3-5 m and a circular error at 90% probability (CE90) is considered nominal for local government planning and management applications. Lowprecision, lowcost georeferenced Ikonos image products (Geo, 50 m CE90) were orthorectified using third party commercially available software and various custom Digital Elevation Models (DEMs). The planimetric accuracies of the resulting custom Ikonos orthoirnages were found to vary between 2-4 m CE90. In addition, United States Geological Survey (USGS) DEMs were also used to orthorectify georeferenced Ikonos image products. Planimetric accuracies of 2-3 m CE90 were obtained from georeferenced Ikonos using USGS DEMs with RMS vertical accuracies of the order of 2 m. The approach demonstrated here can be used to deliver uptodate, costeffective ortholmages from Ikonos Geo products that yield planimetric accuracies suitable for use as digital image basemaps by local governments. [Termes IGN] spectrométrieRésumé : (Auteur) The use of satellite Thematic Mapper (TM) images in mineral exploration has been very successful in pointing out the presence of key minerals. Here we present the results of the spectral enhancement of a TM image to identify oxides and hydroxylbearing minerals in the GuanaJuato district, using the two methods that yielded the best results in this area: band subtraction and principal component analysis on an image that included only. selected pixels and excluded areas that did not present any interest for mineral exploration. Different types of vegetation cover the study area: crops, bushes and forest. Previous application of conventional methods was used to identify areas where the spectral signatures suggested the presence of hydrothermal alteration. and further detailed spectral enhancement in selected pixels allowed the identification of alteration minerals in areas covered with different vegetation types that do not have a similar spectral response. A field check performed using a PIMA (Portable Infrared Mineral Analyser) spectrometer yielded a good correlation of the marked areas with the presence of hydrothermally altered rock. New areas with argillic alteration were discovered in the Sierra de Guanajuato and the San Anton areas. Also, the main structures were determined by applying several filters to the first principal component. The occurrence of hydrothermal alteration and the presence of main faults were used to define areas favourable for further detailed exploration programmes. To assess whether measurements of canopy reflectance at given stages of development could be used for yield forecasting and to identify the most appropriate indices, locations and growth stages for durum wheat yield assessment, nine field experiments, each including 20 or 25 durum wheat (Triticum turgidum L. var durum) genotypes, were carried out under a wide range of Mediterranean conditions. Canopy reflectance was recorded with a portable field spectroradiometer at several times from booting to physiological maturity. and nine indices were further derived. Grain yield15 was measured at harvesting. The results indicated that milkgrain stage was the most appropriate developmental stage for yield assessment. However, some indices were also sensitive to yield variations when determined at anthesis or even heading or booting. The capacity of spectral reflectance indices to forecast grain yield increased on locations that allowed genotypes to express their yield potentiality. Reflectance at 550 nm (R550), water index (WI), photochemical reflectance index (PRI). structural independent pigment index (SIPI), normalized difference vegetation index (NDVI) and simple ratio (SR) explained jointly a 95.7% of yield varlability when all the experiments were analysed together, 92% being explained by R550. When regression analyses were carried out separately for each experiment, spectral reflectance indices explained from 17.3% to 65.2% of total variation in yield. and the indices that best explained differences in yield were experimentdependent. Our data suggest that reflectance at 680 nm (R680), WI and SR may be suitable estimators of durum wheat grain yield under Mediterranean conditions, when determined at milkgrain stage.
