[Termes IGN] radar à antenne synthétiqueRésumé : (Auteur) This paper gives an introduction to multi-baseline polarimetric synthetic aperture radar interferometry (Pol-InSAR) and shows experimental results obtained with a spacebome and an airborne SAR system. Conventional InSAR combines two SAR images of the same scene acquired from slightly different viewing angles. Pol-InSAR improves the performance of scalar InSAR by exploiting the wave polarisation, allowing a more sophisticated physical interpretation of SAR interferograms. The interferometric decomposition permits the identification of arbitrary scattering mechanisms in two interferometric SAR images and the optimisation of the interterometric coherence, using the identified mathematically independent phase centres related to these scattering mechanisms. Pol-InSAR is sensitive to the distribution of oriented objects in vegetation layers. It is demonstrated that the calculated scattering mechanisms have different vertical loci that can be related to certain vegetation structures. This technique allows for a more appropriate reconstruction of the quasi-three-dimensional spatial distribution of such scattering processes within natural media. Further, the effect of the baseline on the estimation of these scattering mechanisms is shown for the interferometric decomposition. Finally, the differential interferometric phase is calculated between the associated scattering mechanisms for all interferometric pairs and different polarisation states. [Termes IGN] télémétrie laser aéroportéRésumé : (Auteur) Airborne laser altimetry is a highly efficient and accurate method of obtaining data for the determination of visible surface topography. With minimal processing, the laser data can provide coordinates of points on the visible surface with high spatial frequency and precision. Although this technology has benefits compared to photogrammetric techniques, there are limiting factors due to the laser data having no structural and textural information. These limitations are significant in low-density laser data and may be overcome by utilizing both laser altimetry and photogrammetrically derived data in the surface determination process. The research described in this paper has been undertaken to accurately determine the visible surface in urban areas using airborne laser scanner data and digital aerial images. Edges detected and matched in aerial images are used to refine the digital surface model (DSM) produced from airborne laser scanner data. The laser data and the edge information are merged to exploit the benefits of each dataset, facilitating the generation of an accurate surface model. This model provides a better representation of surface discontinuities, especially building walls. The paper presents the algorithms developed and shows that the surface accuracy is improved by 49% and 15% for the two tested areas, respectively. [Termes IGN] restauration d'imageRésumé : (Auteur) An investigation of the application of 1 -m Ikonos satellite imagery to 3D point positioning and building reconstruction is reported. The focus of the evaluation of Geo panchromatic imagery has been upon 3D positioning accuracy, radiometric quality and attributes of the image data for building feature extraction. Following an initial review of characteristics of the Ikonos system, the multi-image dataset employed is described, as is the Melbourne Ikonos testfield. Radiometric quality and image preprocessing aspects are discussed, with attention being given to noise level and artifacts, as well as to methods of image enhancement. The results of 2D and 3D metric accuracy tests using straightforward geometric sensor models are summarised, these showing that planimetric accuracy of 0.3-0.6 m and height accuracy of 0.5-0.9 m are readily achievable with only three to six ground control points. A quantitative and qualitative assessment of the use of stereo Ikonos imagery for generating building models is then provided, using the campus of the University of Melbourne as an evaluation site. The results of this assessment are discussed, these highlighting the high accuracy potential of Ikonos Geo imagery and limitations to be considered in building reconstruction when a comprehensive and detailed modelling is required. [Termes IGN] triangulation de DelaunayRésumé : (Auteur) Fitting an elastic grid to contour lines (CLs) produces a surface with tighter intermediate contours than the initial ones. This leads to intermediate contours that do not match the initial ones. In this paper, we propose a method for correcting this defect, by fitting the elastic grid to supplementary constraint lines that correspond approximately to the terrain morphologic lines (ridges and drainages). We extract these lines from a Delaunay triangulation consistent with the contour lines. We propose a coherent weighting system for the constraints imposed on the elastic grid. Finally, we show that a digital terrain model (DTM) artefact of the type mentioned above can be detected by a simple criterion such as the contour length.
