[Termes IGN] transformation rapide de FourierRésumé : (auteur) In this paper, we examine the properties of the radial distance which has been used as a tool to compare the shape of simple surfacic objects. We give a rigorous definition of the radial distance and derive its theoretical properties, and in particular under which conditions it satisfies the distance properties. We show how the computation of the radial distance can be implemented in practice and made faster by the use of an analytical formula and a Fast Fourier Transform. Finally, we conduct experiments to measure how the radial distance is impacted by perturbation and generalization and we give abacuses and thresholds to deduce when buildings are likely to be homologous or non-homologous given their radial distance. [Termes IGN] pouvoir de résolution géométriqueRésumé : (auteur) Land-use/land-cover (LULC) maps describe the Earth’s surface with discrete classes at a specific spatial resolution. The chosen classes and resolution highly depend on peculiar uses, making it mandatory to develop methods to adapt these characteristics for a large range of applications. Recently, a convolutional neural network (CNN)-based method was introduced to take into account both spatial and geographical context to translate a LULC map into another one. However, this model only works for two maps: one source and one target. Inspired by natural language translation using multiple-language models, this article explores how to translate one LULC map into several targets with distinct nomenclatures and spatial resolutions. We first propose a new data set based on six open access LULC maps to train our CNN-based encoder-decoder framework. We then apply such a framework to convert each of these six maps into each of the others using our Multi-Landcover Translation network (MLCT-Net). Extensive experiments are conducted at a country scale (namely France). The results reveal that our MLCT-Net outperforms its semantic counterparts and gives on par results with mono-LULC models when evaluated on areas similar to those used for training. Furthermore, it outperforms the mono-LULC models when applied to totally new landscapes. [Termes IGN] utilisation du solRésumé : (auteur) Understanding the relationship between mixed land use and urban vibrancy is vital in advanced urban planning applications. This study presents a Bayesian spatially varying coefficient (SVC) model to explore the spatially nonstationary relationship between mixed land use and urban vibrancy after controlling for other factors. We first use the convolutional conditional autoregressive prior to accommodate the ecological bias resulting from unobserved confounders. Then we develop our approach in the case of a single predictor to allow the spatially varying coefficient process. We further introduce a type of the Bayesian SVC model that considers the stratified heterogeneity of the outcome, allowing the coefficients to simultaneously vary at the local and subregion level. We illustrate the proposed model by conducting a case study in Shenzhen using mobile phone data, an officially registered point-of-interest (POI) dataset, and several supplementary datasets. The model evaluation results show that including spatially unstructured and structured component combinations can improve the model's fitness and predictive ability; additionally, considering spatial stratified heterogeneity can further enhance the model's performance. Our findings provide an alternative for measuring the variable local-scale association between mixed-use and urban vibrancy and offer new insights that broaden the fields of environmental science and spatial statistics. Designing an effective ride-hailing service generally needs to address two tasks: order matching that assigns orders to available vehicles and proactive vehicle repositioning that deploys idle vehicles to potentially high-demand regions. Recent studies have intensively utilized deep reinforcement learning to solve the two tasks by learning an optimal dispatching strategy. However, most of them generate actions for the two tasks independently, neglecting the interactions between the two tasks and the communications among multiple drivers. To this end, this paper provides an approach based on multi-agent deep reinforcement learning where the two tasks are modeled as a unified Markov decision process, and the colossal state space and competition among drivers are addressed. Additionally, a modifiable agent-specific state representation is proposed to facilitate knowledge transferring and improve computing efficiency. We evaluate our approach on a public taxi order dataset collected in Chengdu, China, where a variable number of simulated vehicles are tested. Experimental results show that our approach outperforms seven existing baselines, reducing passenger rejection rate, driver idle time and improving total driver income. [Termes IGN] système d'information géographiqueRésumé : (auteur) About 30 years have passed since Michael F. Goodchild proposed the term geographical information science (GIScience) in 1992. In the past 30 years, GIScience has made great progress in expanding research findings and perfecting theories and methods. To understand the development progress of GIScience, this research conducts a bibliometric analysis of 9400 publications between 1991 and 2020 in 10 international refereed journals and 2 international conferences of GIScience. We analyze the publication statistics and trends in GIScience from two aspects of journals/conferences and countries/territories. Based on the community detection of the citation network, we extract 15 research themes and show their leading authors and highly cited articles. Furthermore, the change of publication number in different themes over time can indicate the evolution of some research focuses in GIScience. The results demonstrate that the publication proportions of some themes grow rapidly, such as “moving object,” “volunteered geographic information,” and “geographically weight regression,” while the publication proportions of some themes are decreasing, such as “digital elevation model,” “planning support system,” and “ontology.” In the discussion, the journal distribution of papers on different themes is discussed. Moreover, we suggest a few research directions that are worthy of attention in the future. However, enclaves and exclaves have not been defined with sufficient formality for automatic identification yet. To identify enclaves and exclaves more generally by computational means than current definitions existing in the literature, this article proposes expressive and generalized mathematical definitions of enclaves and exclaves based on point-set topology. A novel Boundary Extended 16-Intersection Model is developed in this article to identify enclaves, and 74 possible spatial configurations of enclaves are distinguished according to conditions of intersections for polygons in partitions and enclaves. The classic Dimensionally Extended 9-Intersection Model is employed to identify exclaves, and two possible spatial configurations of exclaves are distinguished according to conditions of intersections for polygons in partitions and exclaves. Applications of the proposed definitions are exemplified by the identification of enclaves and exclaves in prototypes and in the real world.
